I wish Florida had these limits on how high premiums can go. Many have seen 50 percent increases.

The risk must be covered.
Of course, you can always choose to not have insurance…

State Farm said that over the last nine years, it has paid out $1.26 in claims for every dollar in premiums it has received, leading to $5 billion in losses. If insurance companies go bankrupt and the state provides the insurance, who do you think is going to absorb the loss....yep, you will pay it as a taxpayer instead of the insured paying for it.

There has not been a house fire on my street in 120 years. And, I know of no one who has been sued for a residential premises liability case except one family who had a block party and someone got hit in the eye with a wiffle ball.

Unless you have a mortgage. Then you must be covered. HOA fees are going up like crazy out there too. Due to things like Property insurance and even earthquake insurance. It’s crazy. Good Mexican Food though. Plus you get to say you live by the celebrities. Which is nice.

It sounds like you don’t need insurance.

Not if you have a mortgage.

I wonder what would happen if there was a free market in the insurance business.

My CA homeowners coverage went from $1,800 yr. to a little over $5,000 in 2024. Car insurance doubled, also, in 2024. I’m 63, have owned my own home since I was 27, and have been driving since 16. I have never made a claim on either policy. I generally obey the law, pay my taxes (the highest in the nation), support various charities, and volunteer in my community. Kinda feeling as if my good nature has been taken advantage of, which makes me a little cranky.

Adding THAT into the mix (along with skyrocketing utility costs), my monthly expenses increased roughly $1,800 over a three-year period. Just treading water, then handed an anvil. Just because.

Especially those living in California and New York. It's why California and NY have the highest rate of people LEAVING the states, it's terrible. It's Left wing governance.
