The white marble bust of the “Riders on the Storm” singer — made by Croatian artist Mladen Mikulin — was placed at the Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris on the 10th anniversary of Morrison’s death in 1981.
The infamous sculpture, weighing nearly 300 pounds, did not appear damaged beyond the graffiti and its broken nose, which were already there when the bust went missing 37 years ago, according to newly released pictures.
Morrison’s gravesite — situated in an area called the “Poets Corner”– has attracted hordes of fans since the 27-year-old was laid to rest in 1971, according to the BBC.
In 1991, a riot broke out on the 20th anniversary of his death, and tear gas was used to disperse the rowdy crowd, the outlet said.
Since then, a guard has been permanently stationed at Morrison’s grave, the New York Times reported in 1993.

No, no, no .. he’s outside, looking in.

wow! I asked a relative who was going to France to go see the grave and they took a picture before all that damage was done. not sure where the picture is right now.
I think it's "burning out a fuse up here alone."
“Wishful, sinful, wicked blue
Water covers you”
It’s actually fuel in the lyrics.
He made my parents and my life a living hell when I was a tenager. I graduated high school at sixteen so I could leave the house and go to college to escape.
He got arrested at least once a month and sometimes more. Live in a small town with that going on. Get told, you’ll be just like him...
Yeah, I don’t claim to be superior to others for not taking drugs, but I sure don’t feel sorry for them as adults still doing the same thing and getting in trouble.
So true.
It’d be nice to have it. Wonder if the press would like a copy?
Val Kilmer’s portrayal of Jim Morrison was cathartic to me... as it looked like a piece of my life on the screen. I passed through that life and survived as the bible says a person passes through fire.
Val Kilmer did that movie about the doors in the 1990s. At the time I thought it was worth the ticket.
If I didn’t know Belushi died at the age of 33 I would’ve thought you were Jim.
Yep, Bruce Springsteen is a douchebag
+1
He was my stepbrother. He was only 3 months older than me and you can’t get much closer than that and not be actual blood brothers.
In the end, he didn’t die of an overdose but the diseases you can get from doing them.
He always looked younger than his age till his mid 30’s and then aged rapidly. The last time I saw him before he went to the hospital to die, he looke d like he was 70, when he was 45.
I’m sorry. I know the story because same with my cousin who did the same and got a brain aneuysm that killed her in her early 30s. We were very close. IThe aneuysm was linked to the drug usage I’m sure, and when I heard over the phone from my uncle, her father, what happened I literally had the sensation of someone punching me in the stomach and doubled over.
I think of her all the time. We were only a year apart. I never did drugs, she did for years. She was a beautiful girl.
Yup
I joined the Air Force in ‘71 to get away aswell——Vietnam was a Real Destination.
