Pit Bull cannot understand why Ukraine does not surrender, meeting all of Putin’s terms.

“If Russia is not willing to engage, eventually the US has to say that this is not our war.”

Sounds good.

“We realize there’s a bit of an impasse here,” Vance added. “Putin doesn’t seem to quite know how to get out of the war. If Russia is not willing to engage, eventually the US has to say that this is not our war.”

Putin doesn’t want to negotiate. Well, Vlad the Invader hasn’t fulfilled his mission of expansion to reform the Soviet Union empire. So, he is hoping that the entire world will ignore him like it did when Hitler invaded his neighbors.

Vance is wrong about this, it will eventually become a US war. I don’t want it to be. Never wanted this situation to occur in the first place (Obama and Biden made this possible). Europe will get involved even if the US doesn’t at this point, and that will eventually lead the US into it. It’s inevitable, IMHO, that if peace cannot be made the US will be involved.

No one expected this to be easy.

For 3.5 years you had a Biden administration dig a hole as deep as they could and it's always easier to break things than to build them.

Trying to crawl out of that might require some time and skill.

You now have two sides that are dug in (pun intended).

We really only have leverage on Ukraine, but also need to ensure they get a fair deal (not just pressure them to end it at any cost).

The process of deescalation and disengagement might be best done by trying to break it down into small bite sizes.

As you achieve these small successes, you will open new opportunities.

Lets come up with a list of things we can do now (chip away at this mountain) and not try to move the entire mountain at once with some grand peace deal which will be hard to achieve at this point.
