The latest findings at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem align perfectly with the description of Jesus' tomb in the Bible, according to the team
Recent finds at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem have remarkable parallels to the Bible's depiction of Jesus' burial place.
At the renowned church, architects have pinpointed a site which echoes the Gospel of John's portrayal: "Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulcher, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus."
Evidence of ancient olive trees and grapevines has been confirmed by archaeobotanical studies and pollen tests on samples from beneath the centuries-old basilica, indicating a pre-Christian timeline, though radiocarbon dating is still pending.
"We know that the area was already part of the city at the time of Emperor Hadrian when the Romans built Aelia Capitolina," explained Prof. Francesca Romana Stasolla from Rome's Sapienza University to the Times of Israel, citing the Roman metropolis established over Jerusalem's remnants in the early 2nd century CE.
"However, at the time of Jesus, the area was not part of the city yet.", reports the Express.
The belief held by Christians that Jesus' crucifixion and entombment happened where the Church of the Holy Sepulchre now stands, with Calvary or Golgotha as its backdrop, and an aedicule constructed in 1810 marking his grave, continues to endure.
Stasolla has been leading the charge on the ongoing excavations since they kicked off in 2022. The project got the green light in 2019 after years of internal wrangling when the three key religious groups overseeing the church—the Orthodox Patriarchate, the Custody of the Holy Land, and the Armenian Patriarchate—finally agreed to a refurb.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Poing!
Wow, very cool.
Is the evidence unbelievable?
Or is the amount unbelievable ?
Either way if it is “unbelievable” why bother posting?
Yes, writing quality sucks these days, but the article indicates that the project team is doing a good job. Why knock it?
Just sayin' { wink }
"CE" is the attempt by secular anti-Christian people to marginalize Christ's place in history. My calendar divides time between before and after Christ's birth and not the anti-Christian's fabricated 'common era'. Spit!
Two Thousand Years ago...
An Empty Tomb.
Thanks CO! Earlier on FR:
Whoops.
He is not there. It’s just dirt.
Just say it stands for Christian Era, which is more specifically accurate than Anno Domini--every year throughout time is God's year. If the Left can diminish everything we do, we can return everything they do under His feet.
Because we do not require evidence
Jesus told doubting Thomas, blessed are those who have not seen yet believe
I grew up with scores of people who know just as much as I do that Jesus exist. This won’t drag them out away from yoga class or NFL or golf to get them to church on Sunday or any other day
Didn’t they “find” it, like, 20 years ago?
I have to look up the guy’s name. I know I saw him at a sci-fi convention and he seriously believed that he’d touch “God”. I put it in quotes because while he believed that they were the bones of historical Jesus, I don’t think he believed in God. (I could be incorrect about that.)

It’s “unbelievable” which doesn’t matter because we don’t need evidence. That’s interesting thing to say because Jesus invited Thomas to touch him.
Well Jesus did say it
He knew there would be people who want physical evidence. He’s saying here’s the evidence, but you don’t need it.
They don’t need it. But moreover, Jesus exists outside of the physical realm.
Get back to me if you find out what fallen away Christian takes this evidence and goes back to Jesus because of it
You can say, “That’s incredible!” to people today, and they think you are impressed, when you are literally saying, I don’t believe it.
