Usha Vance has been seen wearing an elegant black ensemble paired with a traditional veil as she attended Pope Leo XIV's inauguration mass.
The second lady - who is Hindu - stood dotingly beside her Catholic convert husband, Vice President JD Vance, as they returned to the Vatican on Sunday.
Usha, 39, supported her husband and the new American pontiff by clasping her hands in prayer during the service despite not sharing the same faith.
She also showed respect through her black mantilla, a traditional Spanish veil symbolizing reverence, modesty and piety.
Pope Leo, 69, warmly took hold of Vance's hand as he received a series of world leaders at St Peter's Square.

And to think the VP was just at the Vatican barely a few weeks prior — the last world leader - one of the last individuals period - who Pope Francis saw during his final moments on earth. Easter Sunday of all days.
Vance may be a layman as far as the faith is concerned, but he represents a whole generation of emerging Catholics and Catholic converts. I believe God is highlighting him for a reason in these contexts. And yes, God will hold the popes accountable too — for how they treat and disciple men like Vance. :)
And to Vance’s credit, he understands how to properly balance application of Catholic teaching while holding space for the debates where they do exist.
Thank you both. I had nothing to go on to verify the story of “Pope Snubs JD Vance.”
Dan Bongino’s rule was to wait 72 hours before making a firm decision and blabbing about our opinions because the real details often undermine the clickbait stories, so it’s best to shut up.
I didn’t.
Forgive me. I shouldn’t have linked to the putrid source.
No, I don’t believe the leftist press.

Forgive me. I have apologized elsewhere. Misled due to my naivete about finding any value in the trashy Daily Beast lies.
I watch youtube and thought the same though. That the pope was too short in his greeting with the Vances especially to Usha! Albeit he had a very warm, sincere grin. Short and sweet.
Glad to know there was more time exchanged between them all behind the scenes. Will continue to reiterate: God cares as much as about how the Vatican leadership treats and respects a follower and layman like JD, as vice versa.
