Steve Bannon, architect of US president Donald Trump’s America First movement, spoke to Edward Luce, US national editor, at the FTWeekend festival in Washington DC.
The populist nationalist shared his views on everything from AI and alleging the election of American pope Leo XIV was ‘rigged’ to declaring the US would be unable to continue financing its deficits without tax rises for wealthy Americans and big cuts to the ‘deep state’.

In a way, you’re right. He was still affecting national policy while having been displaced.

He’d be 82-86 years old during a third term. I highly doubt that. It’s JD’s time or someone else.

While I don’t think he will get a 3rd term. His age is not a reason at all. He has more energy then most people over half his age.
Bannon can be wacky sometimes. I think that unjustly going to prison has hardened him in some ways.
No...he will not. But whether it’s Rubio or Vance.....he will be a “People’s President”...like Trump....and continue his work.
JD Vance is a mole for Peter Thiel and total world control.

Trump would not have won his first term without Bannon.

I think that what is coming is far more tumultuous than war.
In the interview, Steve predicts a Constitutional crisis on the Habeas Corpus issue.

Trump told “Meet the Press” a third term is something “you’re not allowed to do.” And he mentioned not only JD Vance but also Marco Rubio when asked about future GOP leaders.
My feeling on this issue is I believe Trump more than Bannon.
That said I also agree that Bannon has a way of seeing the larger picture... and there are Trump 28’ hats but I think Trump is trolling the left with the hats.
