I heard some song the other day, “It’s the first of the month.” N____s are singing welfare carols! “On the first day of welfare, my true love gave to me... I wish you a Merry Welfare and a Happy Food Stamp!”

I was a big fan of roller skating on a Friday night when I was in my 20s. I had another go at it in my 50s when working in San Diego. It went fine until one Friday night at the beginning of the month. The parking lot was full of off duty cops. I lined up at the ticket office and paid for my tickets. Upon entry, it was clear that no skating was going to happen. It was literally wall to wall black people. You couldn't even walk in the lobby. I went back to the ticket office to request a refund. Nope! Rain-check? Ok. I left with rain-check in hand. I was curious about the law enforcement present, so I asked one of them what was going on. Simple. It's "Mom's night". The welfare checks have been release and the "moms" dump their kids off at the rollerskating rink. From that day forward, I stopped going skating on the first Friday night of the month.
That particular rink had a group of 10 to 15 black skaters who were very good and a joy to have on the floor. They were present on most Friday and Saturday nights.
