Ukraine’s president confirmed on Thursday that he has agreed to send the delegation to Istanbul for lower-level talks with Russia’s representatives, but he will not be present there himself.

Kyiv’s delegation will be led by Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, Zelenskyy said, despite the fact that Umerov's Russian counterpart will not be present.

Spheres of influence is an outdated 19th century concept. Ukraine is a sovereign nation and has the right to decide for itself its geopolitical alignment. Perhaps if Russia was less predatory and more respectful of the sovereignty of its neighbors more nations would voluntarily align with it.
