Same experience here. And they are appalled at American black behavior, lack of achievement, culture, and pride in being ignorant.
Which blows out of the water the theory that blacks are somehow intellectually inferior to whites.
Early childhood development plays a HUGE role in how a person’s innate intellect plays out in life. I suspect that a lot of issues we see among many groups are a result of inadequate or downright bad parenting. And Headstart is NOT the answer. The answer is the parents interaction with the child on a day to day, hour by hour basis.
Dr. James Dobson had some information on that some time ago and I can’t remember where I read it. According to him, the most important window is between 8-18 months, and one of the suggestions that I haven’t found in current lists is to talk to your child like an adult, making eye to eye contact. Do NOT talk baby talk to them or ignore them.
