Between our Air Force and Navy, we have just over 3,000 fighter jets. You are suggesting we use every last one of them to get into a direct war with nuclear-armed Russia? China would love that!

Maybe you should retire from playing armchair general. It doesn’t seem to be your forte.

PS: I notice you have not been able to respond to my #26, which is no surprise;

Check

https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/25436/why-does-the-u-s-keep-thousands-of-retired-aircraft-in-storage

Yes. Thousands.

In 1991 I saw a field of thousands of F4 Phantoms in storage in Arizona. Caps on the intakes, covered canopies, sitting in a field with grass and wheels in the desert dirt. Covered in think layer of desert dust. Well over a thousand of them in row after row, over probably 100-150 acres right next to each other. The next morning, same field, all gone. They re-activated and flew out every aircraft overnight. That’s the day I knew they were serious about Iraq.

Most of the F4’s have been used as practice drones over the years, but f16, f18’s, f15 have taken their place. Just because the sit in the desert doesn’t mean they aren’t ready in a hurry, 1991 demonstrated that. You’re right, I am not a general. Really, what do I know? Just what I have seen happen once already. What will Trump do, is the real question. He does everything to achieve peace first, via business and negotiation.

It’s a stupid war that needs to end. Putin will either come to the table when it’s favorable time because little z has no cards, or he will watch Trump escalate and remove his cards. That’s what I think. Maybe the LSD you’re taking does not include ‘cause and effect’, or why the term ‘boneyard’ is propaganda for thousands of these planes. Or the LSD avoids looking at Trumps resolve in the face of deadly situations.

Putin games will only worsen his negotiating position from here forward. As an American, I don’t want to be involved in the Ukraine-Russia conflict and considerate imbecilic that Obama, Biden, and CIA got us involved. Peace I want, and if it means escalation to get Putin’s attention, Trump is going to do it. It’s his nature. Call that logic LSD driven, happy to hear what you have seen or think will happen if the Russians feign peace.

While we and the Europeans have tried to ramp up shell production, it’s been slow going and no match for Russia’s ramped-up production. There’s a reason the ratio of shells fired is 7-1 to 10-1 in the Russians’ favor.

Is it now? Three brand new US artillery plants were slatted to go online late last year (a single before). I haven’t heard little z crying about artillery shell shortage lately, have you? Last I heard it was almost 1:1, and the plants just keep coming online in other nations.

Aircraft, see my other post. Pilots bigger problem. Enough coalition pilots to do air cover over Ukraine frees all Ukrainian pilots for combat over Russia. Yes, the can overwhelm the Russians in the air over Ukraine and till the Russian border. No air cover, Ukrainian air superiority, the ground troops are cut off.

The question remains, if Putin feigns peace, what is Trump and Europe going to do to end the war?

“Yes, the US has literally 1000’s of fighters in storage or semi-outdated. Thousands more Bradleys, Tens of Thousands more tanks, Thousands more aircraft, ect..”

Who exactly, is going to operate all these planes and armored vehicles? And NATO pilots shooting down Russian planes is not being involved? Since the Euros are yellow bellies, it would be Americans again. This is ridiculous nonsense.

See:

Russia on track to build artillery shell stockpile triple the size of the US’s and Europe’s combined: top US general
https://www.businessinsider.com/russia-artillery-ammo-stockpile-triple-us-europe-combined-chris-cavoli-2025-4

Russian artillery production to outmatch all of EU by 30% next year, Ukrainian intelligence says
https://kyivindependent.com/russian-artillery-production-to-outmatch-all-of-eu-by-30-next-year-ukrainian-intelligence-says/

While it’s true the ratio of shells fired has improved in Ukraine’s favor, how long will that last? Europe just sent everything they could scrounge up. And Zelensky was in Prague begging for more recently:

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukraines-zelenskiy-gets-czech-pledge-more-ammo-pilot-training-prague-visit-2025-05-05/

And you’ll find plenty of articles about Zelensky asking the EU for $5 billion to buy more ammo last month.

If you think Trump is going to send our guys to fight in Ukraine against Russia, or that we’ll become Ukraine’s air force ... well, dream on. Even Biden wouldn’t go there.

I remember in college how the Soviet-Sponsored Leftists claimed that we Republicans/Conservatives were “war mongers”. I would always respond that we needed a strong military to PREVENT WARS.

But after Serbia, Libya, and especially Ukraine, I hate to admit that they might have been right all along. Either that, or we have a very well-organized troll attack here...but I doubt that, given some of the histories of the war-mongers.

Serbia, Libya and Ukraine (as well as Syria) were all started under Democrat presidents. Afghanistan and Iraq under a Republican. Hawks in Congress of both parties cheered them all on.

The way I see it, it’s not so much a Republican vs Democrat thing as a neocon/neoloib Uniparty thing. The influences that emerged from the Captive Nations Committee didn’t help either. While it may have had its place during the Cold War, allowing foreigners (and their near descendants) with axes to grind into our halls of power and allowing them to wield such great influence wasn’t exactly America First, was it? Yes, I’m looking at Brzinski, Wolfowitz, Nuland, Sullivan, the Kagans, etc.

I believe Trump truly wants to be a President of Peace. The speech he just made in the KSA was astonishingly good. Things appear to be coming together for peace in the Middle East if he stays on this track. He’s courageously stood up to the neocons he surrounded himself with lately, for which I admire him greatly.

I agree with you that we need a strong military to prevent wars. And I’ll add “not to fight Other People’s Wars”.

Yea, I think Trump will. If Putin feigns peace, Trump’s nature is not to back down. He is quite tenacious, he will ratchet up the pressure on Putin. Ukraine with Air Superiority over the battlefield will be able to retake ground. When that happens, little z has the cards and Vlad the Invader has nothing. So yes, I believe that literally thousands of aircraft will be sent. Pilots will be the biggest problem, but with coalition of the willing pilots flying only over Ukrainian airspace, it will happen. Finally, Trump isn’t Biden. Trump will go where others fear to tread.

I doubt it will happen though. Vlad the Invader will never get a better out and deal than right now. When Trump escalates, especially with oil prices dropping, Russia’s economy will likely collapse. Losing territory, losing the war, collapse economy, and exposed lies of ‘manufacturing’ when your just importing from China and NK, will be overwhelming for his regime. No, I don’t see Vlad taking the risk anymore.

“Trump’s nature is not to back down”

He prudently backed down after it became obvious our air campaign against the Houthis was a waste of our money and energy and left the Israelis to fight their own battles. America First. He won’t be sending Americans to die in Ukraine or risk nuclear war over Ukraine either.

Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. Trump knows that.

The Houthis surrendered. They have suddenly been silent since. Shipping is moving again.

Bad example. AirPower worked here. Trump won.

FAKE NEWS.

Headline and reporting do NOT match.

Reporting uses unlikely to show up.

Vladimir Putin will not show up for peace talks because his 25-year stranglehold on Russia ends if he yields, experts say

So say unnamed "experts".

There's a reliable source for you.

Strange, since I have not heard any ships being hit.
The only fighters the US lost fell off the deck of carriers.

Intercepted single missiles to Israel don’t matter. The Israelis will just start bombing Iran again anyway.

I think it’s great that the Houthis act up again. That gives Trump reason to eliminate them and Iran. While I agree that Trump is correct to negotiate first, here is where you and I seem to differ, he will absolutely make Iran wish they made a deal.

One can “rehearse” facts? Who knew? A typo, perhaps?

>>>”The only fighters the US lost fell off the deck of carriers.”<<<

At least one was lost when the carrier took a sudden swift turn to evade a Houthi missile.

>>>”Intercepted single missiles to Israel don’t matter. The Israelis will just start bombing Iran again anyway.”<<<

They can shut down the airport from time to time, and have. And they can keep commercial airlines from operating there:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/airline-news/2025/05/09/tel-aviv-flights-canceled/83459571007/

https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/lufthansa-group-extends-suspension-of-tel-aviv-flights-until-may-25/

https://www.timesofisrael.com/israelis-again-isolated-as-airlines-take-hiatus-what-will-it-take-to-woo-them-back/

Our stated goal for the air campaign: Annihilate the Houthis, utterly destroy them.

Our stated strategy: bomb bomb bomb

Houthis stated goal: Pressure Israel to stop bombing Gaza and allow humanitarian aid in.

Houthis’ stated strategy: Target ships bound for Israeli ports or connected to Israel.

Outcome: After 31 days and over $1 billion worth of bomb bomb bomb, Houthis not annihilated, still launching missiles. Having stated over a month ago that they had no interest in targeting American ships and were only targeting our war ships in self defense, something they would not do if we weren’t bombing them — Trump wisely saw that Houthis are indestructible, declared victory, and stopped wasting our tax dollars on bombing them. Houthis said cool, but we’ll keep targeting Israeli ships and territory.

It appears the Houthis have figured out it’s much easier to target a stationary airport than a moving ship, and that shutting down commercial air traffic in Israel is fun for Houthis, It looks like they’ve shifted more to trying to impose an air blockade than a sea blockade.

Israel can bomb bomb bomb the Houthis and get the same result everyone else has got. For over a decade now, the Houthis have been bombed by Saudis & Friends, Israel, the Brits, the Americans — and still doing their Houthi thing, Now it’s down to just the Israelis. Houthis don’t care. And they really do seem to be indestructible.

As for Iran, “eliminating” it would be one costly war. It would make the trillions of treasure and buckets of blood we spilled in Iraq look small in comparison. Let’s go for a deal if we can.

No I blame those a$$holes for messing around where they shouldn’t have for no good reason, and ABSOLUTELY Obama who clearly knows no history (outside of ‘racially useful’).For the record, I advocate none of these people. I also recognize that Vlad the Invader is a problem as well.

I am taking the side of the innocent people whose lives have been trapped in the middle of another useless conflict. Trump, and maybe the new Pope, seem to be the only advocates for them.
