Three Belgian soldiers have been hurt in a shooting incident during a military training exercise in Scotland.

Belgium's defence ministry said approximately 10 other soldiers also sustained hearing damage during the incident.

The defence ministry declined to say where in Scotland the incident took place, but last week it was reported around 600 Belgian armed forces personnel were in Moray for a large-scale operation called Red Condor.

Does Belgium issue each soldier one round to be kept in their top pocket until needed? Less live fire exercises means more accidents happen when you have them.

“It’s understood that Police Scotland is investigating the incident.”

I was wondering if it might have been a negligent (or deliberate) discharge of a rifle in a concrete bunker of some sort. There could possibly be several injuries from a ricocheting bullet and/or concrete fragments, and hearing damage would be likely for anyone in there.

No point speculating from so little information, though, and I’m not going to click on bbc.com to find out more.

Training to go to war is very nearly as dangerous as war itself.

Kind of silly for Belgium to have an Army anyway.

Those lucky enough for the Russians to capture alive face very long prison sentences. Mercs for Ukraine is a very idiotic career choice.

Belgian newspaper La Libre reported that the incident involved a shooting exercise with an anti-tank weapon that went wrong.

My guess is a hot machine gun barrel caused a runaway chain fire, operator either lost control or the barrel shattered to pieces.

***also sustained hearing damage during the incident. ***
Reminds me of an old 1969 cartoon in (I believe) MAD MAGAZINE in how the US would look upon the war with Japan after the rewrite of history by liberals.

Last cartoon shows FDR bowing to a very tall Emperor of Japan and apologizing for ear damage caused to Japanese pilots flying over Pearl Harbor when American ships below suddenly blew up.

Rested his chin on the suppressor of his weapon and it unexpectedly fired? Yeah sure a trained soldier rests his chin on the barrel of a loaded weapon that is so poorly designed that it fires on it’s own or.........suicide.
