Škoda is a well-known carmaker, but many may be unaware of the brand’s two-wheeled roots. The 130-year-old Czech company started out as a bicycle and motorcycle maker – and it looks like it might just get back to that.
Škoda has just unveiled a sparkly new concept, called the Slavia B, reviving one of its first two-wheeled models from 1899 with a futuristic twist. It's part of the company's "Modern Solid" design research initiative, which aims to demonstrate how traditional designs could be modernized for contemporary times.
Created by Škoda’s in-house external designer, Frenchman Romain Bucaille, the cafe racer concept seeks to maintain the original's distinctive features while fusing them with contemporary stylistic elements. While it may not exactly translate to a production model anytime soon, it’s a bold signal from Škoda that it is ready to walk the walk if it decides to take on two wheels once again.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Although Škoda is named after its founder, the word “škoda” also means “pity” or “shame” in Czech.

Tron?
Looks like they forgot some controls. I guess I need to read the article.....
That doesn’t look like a cafe racer to me. Maybe the cafe is in The Jetsons?
All form, no function .Style but no substance.....
Sport bikes. Riding one, one Looks like a monkey humping a football. Sit up straight like a man.
The Skoda Scootah?
Remember Jawa mopeds? Czechs make good weapons too. CZ.
Awkward looking.
I love my CZ.
A little too colorful for my tastes. Make it a one-color or two-tone and you’d have something that looks a bit like a Lightcycle from TRON.
There have been several attempts at electric motorcycles. Most of them fail in the marketplace. I can see a potential for them if they are low cost. They would make good short distance commuter transportation - better than a moped for riding on higher speed roadways. Unfortunately most of them are of very limited range and speed, and are way too expensive for what they can do imo. On the plus side my wife could ride one because they have no clutch or gears. Just throttle and brake. If there was one available for a few $1000 I’d consider it for commuting. But the $20,000 or so they want, with such limited range, better off getting something more versatile for a lot less.
Wrap the whole thing in chrome and you’ve got something.
Beat me to it! I agree.
Hotfoot achtung. The foot rest looks like a piece of copper pipe.
Three reasons to sign a trade deal right there.
