Any safety concerns with a 1kV automobile electric system. Sounds like a FAFO situation waiting to happen.

Whatever. The electricity is still generated by oil, coal and natural gas power plants.
Plug them into hydroelectric power plants and maybe we can talk.

Ask someone who drives a gasoline-powered car why they wouldn't want to get an electric one, and you're almost certain to hear this answer: they take way too long to charge. Perhaps. But for me I have no desire for one even if it charges in five minutes. EVs are critical materials resource hogs. In the total picture they are highly polluting. ICE vehicles as polluters is highly exaggerated.
As long as owning one is chosen entirely by free market principles and NOT government incentives and coercion, I'm fine if someone wants to spend THEIR OWN money on one.
But NO more lies about EVs being environmentally friendly and "non" polluting. Propaganda of the worst sort.

Waiting for someone to fix the randomly bursting into flame issue.
Until then no sale.

Interesting article. But I trust nothing the ChiComs do. So I wouldn’t put it past them to rig the EV demonstrations at the Shanghai Auto Show.
Maybe I’m just being too suspicious.

Wonder about the heat developed with that large blast of energy in such a short period. If batteries catch fire...yow.
Still....could be practical.

After a brief jaunt through Beijing afternoon traffic, aided by BYD's God Eye automated driving assistance system, our convoy arrived at a local dealership to try Megawatt charging. BYD's demonstration involved one car plugged into the Megawatt station while a projector screen showed the crowd of journalists the charging results. So they were given an organized tour, under completely controlled conditions?

With a Pebble-Bed Reactor, that is actually possible.
We all could have our own nuclear power reactors the size of HVAC units sitting outside next to them................

Yeah it’s all fun and games until the power goes out. Hurricanes, snowstorms, floods, earthquakes. Then you’re stuck wherever you’re at. No thanks 🙂↔️

It's a "sedan" for a small Chinese family. 60" shoulder width in front (58" shoulder width in rear). (My EV is 62" width, 41.7" leg room.)
In other words, I'm not sure the BYD Han L is comfortable for road trips. So the speed of fast charging is irrelevant.

Won’t matter if they do, each ‘pebble’ by itself is no danger. Just pick them up and reuse them in a new unit................

Ten bucks says this won’t work, or the battery won’t accept a charge rate like that below about 45° F.
To: Red Badger
The demand charges the utilities charge pulling 1,000 kWh makes this unviable. Of course the public utilities will probably be cajoled into exempting car charging stations from the demand fees, while continuing to stick it to every other business that uses more than 199 kWh in a single burst.

It’s a game changer alright. Plug 50,000 of these in all at once and crash the grid. That’ll change things.
