Don’t forget those who allow their hounds to run unleashed and cats to go feral, returning home only to be fed.

We used to live in a popular close-in Atlanta suburb - that was originally WAY out of town until Atlanta got huge.

The roads were narrow, some had sidewalks but only on one side. Topography was very steep. The main thoroughfare in the area was a narrow two-lane, ran along the river ridge, many blind hills and blind curves. But the idiots at the local bike shop actually *sponsored* a regular ride the length of this road.

One fine day, I come over a hill to find a gaggle of cyclists riding 6 or 8 abreast, the inside guy was in the middle of my lane. I jammed the brakes and hit the curb so the guy wouldn't become a hood ornament. He and 2-3 others shot me the bird.

I drove right down to the local cycle shop. Told them what had happened, told them I was filing a police report, and also told them that they would be held responsible if somebody on one of their sponsored rides got injured or killed.

I must have made an impression (I was very polite and collected. Didn't litigate for 30 years without learning to keep my temper). The rides stopped. Now you only see 2-3 guys instead of 20.

The left doesn’t want you to drive as it increases your mobility and therefore ability to improve your life on your own.

I’ve always thought pushing bikes into vehicular traffic is reckless and irresponsible, like all leftist concepts.

Bike lanes, et al, are not about safety - they’re about making it more difficult to drive and move things in the direction of point one above.

If it were about safety, they’d be putting bikes on sidewalks.

A collision between a vehicle and a bike is much more likely to result in a fatality than a collision between a bike and a pedestrian.

So if they were interested in safety, you wouldn’t see a bike lane in traffic, but beyond the curb and next to the sidewalk.

We drive regularly on a two-lane road through a national park. The road is curvy and hilly and often bicycle-infested. To me the worst annoyance is not the cyclists so much as the wuss drivers who won’t just pass them, instead creeping along behind them for sometimes a mile or more.

In Arizona the law is that cars aren’t allowed to pass a cyclist within three feet. My view is that cyclists should therefore be forbidden to ride on any road where the shoulder is not wide enough for a cyclist to remain at least three feet outside the traffic lanes, unless the cyclist is able to maintain the speed limit at all times.

Here in rural Jersey (yes, about half of Jersey is still somewhat rural) the law is 4 feet of clearance. Whoever makes these stupid laws apparently has never driven outside of a town or city or suburb, where the road is only about 15 feet wide and curvy and hilly barely wide enough for 2 pickup trucks. And there are a lot of pickup trucks, probably half of the vehicles around here. Not wide enough for 2 pickup trucks (going in opposite directions) and providing a 4 foot clearance for the cyclist. So, someone has to stop and it’s rarely the idiot on 2 wheels. Car and truck owners pay registration fees which some of goes to road maintenance. We should have the right of way, imho.

Good for you. One or more of these idiots are going to get creamed, that’s a given. Seriously, I like to ride a bicycle. But I don’t ride on roads with cars and trucks. We have miles and miles of trails here, a good stretch along the Delaware River where there used to be train tracks is one and there are more. Why cyclists ride on a road with cars, trucks, and tractors is beyond me.

When I lived in Silicon Valley, cyclists were allowed on the local expressways. It was a constant pain because they're all the way to the right, and would ride straight across the exits, so you had to time everything just right to exit and not hit them (God forbid they yield or anything).

Even then, it was also a challenge not to get rear-ended when exiting.

Riding a bicycle on an expressway is insane. Not allowed here.

They were 4 lane divided highways, but I seem to recall the speed limit was only 45 or something.

Still...yeah, it was bad.

Most cyclists must be liberals because they seem to believe that laws don’t apply to them.

Yup. Between the spandex and silly helmets, the poofers should all move to San Francisco and ride in the gay parade.

We have rail trails here, but the cyclists don’t like them because of all the walkers/ joggers.

Get like minded people together and get after your state representatives and your county commissioners- “let’s not wait to do something about this until somebody gets killed -“

I definitely agree.
While the majority of bicyclists are okay, the percentage of louts with utter disregard for fellow road-users is much higher than it should be, unfortunately.
