Ukraine launched a devastating drone attack on Russia overnight as Vladimir Putin prepares to welcome foreign leaders to celebrate VE Day. The strikes hit Moscow and surrounding Russian regions ahead of a large military parade in the capital on Friday, May 9, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of WW2 in Europe.
One target hit by Ukrainian drones was Kubinka military airfield in the west of the city, from which aircraft will launch in a scheduled Red Square flypast. The airfield holds Russian MiG-29 and Su-27 fighter jets as well as Putin’s aerobatic team and is often used for attacks on Ukraine. NASA's fire monitoring satellites recorded fires at two sites southwest of Moscow, which are believed to be the base of long-range Tu-22 strategic nuclear.
It was the third day of Ukrainian strikes on Putin’s capital and surrounding regions, and again caused massive disruption, with the city’s four main airports closed, and flights diverted and cancelled - after the Kremlin’s refusal to agree to a month-long ceasefire offered by Kyiv.
Hundreds of flights were impacted, with passengers complaining of a “nightmare” at Moscow’s airports. Passengers on a Dubai-Moscow flight forced to land in Kazan were told they were being held in a hotel for an “indefinite” period due to the attacks.
Vnukovo airport - used by Putin and top officials - was in chaos with 50-plus flights delayed. Sheremetyevo airport cancelled multiple flights due to the drone swarms.
There was also a huge internet disruption across European Russia - apparently as the authorities jammed signals desperately seeking to counter Ukrainian kamikaze drones.

Let’s face it while Trump is trying to get them to the peace table Russia is just continuing the war to gain more ground in eastern Ukraine. Russia is also launching some devastating missile attacks on Ukrainian cities.
When you play like this instead of making peace bad stuff is going to happen. I mean bad stuff for both sides and the effect on the peace process is hard to know.
I would think that the Russians would be able to fend off such attacks given that they were to be expected.
Drones could be launched from a ship in the Atlantic covered by fog against DC airports.
It would be fascinating to watch as Zelensky looks up into the sky a half second before the Russian counter makes him disappear.
The MIC would be so upset, don’t ya think?
I bet that really put Putin’s shorts in a twist ! ( sarc)
I thought Putin was fairly clear that if Zelensky attacked Moscow during the VE Day ceasefire and celebrations that Kiev would suffer consequences. This will be interesting to watch.

There will be NO peace until Russia id either defeated militarily of the economy collapses - or both. And any ceasefire just means more men, equipment, weapons and the latest T-90M tanks will be sent to the stockpiles along the border with Finland for the Putin planned war on NATO.
I would think that the Russians would be able to fend off such attacks given that they were to be expected.

With what? They only have so many missiles, while UKR can send hundreds of different kinds of drones in each wave. Russian jamming has been countered so that’s no help.
Zeeper logic: Putin is both completely inept, and the biggest threat to the World.
