They had a good run.

Is ozempic ultimately safe or not? In the long term that is. Something tells me it’s to good to be true. Opinions?

It’s probably safe enough for small amounts of weight-loss with a few months of recovery at a time, while you are learning new habits.
That’s how it should ge, I think.

Guess they’ll have to slim down
Cut out the fat
Maybe 🤔 skip some meals
Tighten their belts
That’s the skinny

So, is ‘ozempic’ the result of technology marching on or just another example of our ‘immediate gratification’ society where many folks are not willing to put in the hard work to achieve worthy goals ... ??

I suspect it is not. It is too early to tell, but early anecdotal evidence is against it.

If I understand this correctly, WeightWatchers is not shutting down. It filed for Chapter 11 to restructure its $1.15 billion debt while continuing to operate.
The goal is to reposition the business for long-term growth, especially by expanding into digital health and weight-loss medications like Ozempic and Wegovy. This is a strategic pivot, not a liquidation.
I would also recommend that it drop the calorie-counting approach in favor of low carb.

This marks the beginning of a future health crisis where people will rely on medications for obesity rather than eating healthy foods in reasonable portion sizes to maintain their weight.

They need to trim some fat.

In 2024, Oprah Winfrey resigned from her position on the board of WeightWatchers after 10 years, admitting to using weight loss drugs.

A carefully controlled diet, complemented by a sensible exercise regimen, remains the safest and best way to lose weight (with the added benefit of improving one's overall health).
In our instant gratification society, it's no surprise these weight loss drugs are selling like hotcakes. Who wants to put in the work and dedication to lose weight the old-fashioned way?
The long-term effects of these "miracle" weight loss drugs remain to be seen, but I'm not optimistic.
To: DesertRhino
I read an article where Ozempic was called a “wonder drug” that has many applications beyond weight loss. Previously I was a bit leery of it but when I start hearing wonder drug I’m fairly sure it’s gonna blow up in a lot of faces. I’d guess that it’s indicated for people who’s over weight has them with one foot in the grave.
