Shauna Niequist's mom had spent almost all of her adult life being a pastor's wife, mother, and homemaker. She excelled in all of these roles. But 17 years in, she walked into a counselor's office and said, "I don't know who I am anymore. Something has to change." Through counseling, friendships, and prayer, says Niequist, her mother unearthed the gifts and passions that had drawn her to a social work degree. "I found my voice in my 40s and my vocation in my 50s..."
Betty Friedan would have been proud. Surprised, too, perhaps, to see her ideas—dissected and debated for a half-century now—fleshed out in a faith community not always friendly toward her.
Like every important book, The Feminine Mystique has been vigorously debated in the 50 years since its release...But despite all we might lament about the second wave of feminism, Friedan's clarion call of human achievement is still strikingly germane. "The problem that has no name" is, for men and women alike, the problem of bearing the image of the Creator, yet lacking outlets for creative talent not directly related to child-rearing.
Friedan's reflections on human purpose dovetail with classic biblical anthropology. Between the Garden in Genesis and the City in Revelation, men and women are invited to make something of the world beyond the private space of home. When women and men lose touch with their own crucial participation in human culture, their Imago Dei is dimmed. And when the important cultural activities of homemaking and childrearing are left to women alone, men and women alike lose out.
The Bible starts with the fundamental goodness of work. After creating the world, God invites the first humans to mimic his creativity...

Something you do as an increasingly angry feminist with increasingly angry liberal views against men is want to pretend that you don’t these things, never knew them, and always want to start the conversation at the beginning as though you are a newborn with no prior knowledge and no life experience, liberals do that on every topic.
Uh huh.
I was more than happy when I got married to quite my job, finish school, and have kids and stay home raising them.
I am quite capable in managing a budget, saving money, and doing all kinds of things feminists look down on and yet can’t do themselves.
It’s possible to find fulfillment and satisfaction in all those typically traditional things that feminists look down on and if they don’t like it, they can go pound sand.
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
Your hatred of women is showing.
And deflection and changing of topic is duly noted.
And that is a silly lie that you know is untrue, I don’t recall you being like this 10 years ago.
Pathetic.
these days, most men never have a solid relationship.
the top 1-5% of men have many quick relationships.
I Corinthians Chapter 11
11 Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
2 Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you. 3 But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, 2 and the head of Christ is God.
They need to submit the their husband: (Husband that’s in Christ, not a non-believer outside the Blood)
Corinthians Chapter 11
1. Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ.
2. Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you.
3. But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband,
4. and the head of Christ is God.
And God expect the same level of sexual purity from men as women, even though men give themselves a pass on it with the *Boys will be boys * attitude.
Ephesians 5:3-6 But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving. For of this you can be sure: No sexually immoral, impure or greedy person—such a person is an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient. Therefore do not be partners with them.
Ephesians 5:25-33 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
Colossians 3:19 Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.
1 Peter 3:7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
The point is to honor God and advance the Gospel in all that we do. ♥️🙏
PROVERBS 31
10 If you can find a truly good wife, she is worth more than precious gems! 11 Her husband can trust her, and she will richly satisfy his needs. 12 She will not hinder him but help him all her life. 13 She finds wool and flax and busily spins it. 14 She buys imported foods brought by ship from distant ports. 15 She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plans the day’s work for her servant girls. 16 She goes out to inspect a field and buys it; with her own hands she plants a vineyard. 17 She is energetic, a hard worker, 18 and watches for bargains. She works far into the night!
19-20 She sews for the poor and generously helps those in need. 21 She has no fear of winter for her household, for she has made warm clothes for all of them. 22 She also upholsters with finest tapestry; her own clothing is beautifully made—a purple gown of pure linen. 23 Her husband is well known, for he sits in the council chamber with the other civic leaders. 24 She makes belted linen garments to sell to the merchants.
25 She is a woman of strength and dignity and has no fear of old age. 26 When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says. 27 She watches carefully all that goes on throughout her household and is never lazy. 28 Her children stand and bless her; so does her husband. He praises her with these words: 29 “There are many fine women in the world, but you are the best of them all!”
30 Charm can be deceptive and beauty doesn’t last, but a woman who fears and reverences God shall be greatly praised. 31 Praise her for the many fine things she does. These good deeds of hers shall bring her honor and recognition from people of importance.
I recently re-watched “The Flower Drum Song” which included the song “I enjoy being a girl”. Those were the days.
I am not seeing the feminists fighting against Muslim anti-female customs anywhere in the western world.
That hypocrisy means they cannot be taken seriously.
