Because once it is out there people repeat it as fact and then ask those who disbelieve it to "disprove it".
The days of letting people lie about you and meekly taking it are over.
And that is a good thing even if you do not approve.

No, you can't slander someone because the audience is small - Drudge picked up the lie and has been running with it every day since. Lots of stupid vile democrats out there who will believe anything... and are too ignorant to consider the source.
Too bad someone can't ask MSNBC S.O.B's how it helps them to lie about conservatives.
