Tourists Matthew Nannen, 45, and Bailee Crane, 58, were visiting Inspiration Point at Utah’s scenic Bryce Canyon National Park with their elderly tabby — now named Mirage — when the trio took a fateful plunge on Monday night or Tuesday morning, the Salt Lake Tribune reported, citing the sheriff’s office.
Mirage, who is estimated to be 12 years old, was found by hikers on Tuesday night in a soft black pet carrier and in remarkably good condition...
The fortunate feline only suffered two fractured canine teeth and a few fractured ribs — but miraculously “seemed to have weathered the fall fairly well,” Best Friends Animal Sanctuary said.
Nannen and Crane appeared to be living out of a U-Haul and recently came to Utah from Arizona, with their last known permanent residence being in Florida, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.
It is not known how the couple fell, but they are thought to have crossed the guardrails at Inspiration Point, according to CBS News.
“She was matted and a bit sore, but is friendly upon examination, as well as drinking and eating on her own,”

They fell faster than their IQ test scores.
I hope someone finds their phones with their terminal selfies, YouTube will go nuts!
At least the kitty will find a good new home.
No kidding, suicide pact. Who takes an elderly cat on vacation let alone on a hike to an overview?
As many have said:
It is not the fall which kills, it is the sudden stop at the end...
Be safe.
Obviously.
Thanks BL.
LOL good one
I tell dad jokes.
Sometimes he LOL....
Other article says the individuals were “currently unhoused”, and it’s already been stated that they crossed over the railying at Inspiration Point, and at 45 & 58 they were old enough to know better, so...
As sad as their deaths are, it reminds me of an old song that says “you don’t tug on Superman’s cape, you don’t spit into the wind...”. Stupid choices (which I presume was the case here) increase one’s chances of making undesirable outcomes more likely.
Maybe it traded it’s 9 lives for 7 gender identities and 2 lives?
“….suffered two fractured canine teeth “
Pretty sure those are feline teeth.
= = =
Maybe she self declared as a dog.
Let us know if you him...Hopefully safe and sound....
Uh, you, no sense of humor roll.
I thought it was funny.
Prayers offered for the safe return of your wandering one.

“ The vets said from 3 stories the cat is having a fall but from 10 stories the cat falls and has time to relax so that when it hits the sidewalk it lands on first its feet but then the belly and rib cage spreading the landing and dispersing its effect which accounts for many of them living.”
An early hypothesis said that with falls greater than ten stories the cat will have time to empty its bladder, preventing rupture upon impact. Supposedly a ruptured bladder was the culprit in shorter falls.
“I thought it was funny.”
Bad sense of humor roll ...
“on vacation”
Who posts without reading the article?
I thought the same. Why take the cat to the edge in a carrier?
I considered the possibility. I was thinking of a tongue-n-cheek obtuse response.
Could-a gone either way. So, I happened to have taken the straight road.
There are plenty of idiots who have lost their lives doing such stupid stunts for selfies and likes on social media.
Doesn't seem to be the case here, but I am glad the cat survived, he had no say in the supposed suicide pact and didn't deserve to be a part of it.
