Beyond the financial damage imposed by woke is the negative effect on the performance of corporations and governments in the U.S. as well as the country as a whole.
Let’s separate the facts from the fiction with respect to the damage caused by wokism.
Woke, which includes ESG, DEI, climate change, and other wasteful, misguided and discriminatory initiatives, has caused billions and probably trillions of dollars in damages in the U.S.
Woke is a creation of the Marxist Left. After failing to gain traction through labor in the U.S. over many years, the Marxist Left turned to the issue of race and expanded into other areas under the umbrella of wokism to secure power and influence.
Woke gained prominence in the U.S. with the ascension of Barack Obama to the presidency following the 2008 election. Joe Biden supported woke programs during his presidency.
As wokism grew from about 2008 to the present, many U.S. corporations jumped on the woke bandwagon. Woke impacted U.S. corporations with respect to the composition of boards, leadership, and hiring of employees. Woke influenced corporate investment decisions and the development of products. In short, woke spread through corporations in the U.S., while merit, a solid basis for success, was relegated to the scrap heap and considered a dirty word. Fortunately, with Donald Trump back in the White House, the detrimental qualities and evils of woke are being revealed and merit is taking a leading position, but not before woke caused considerable damage.
The list of U.S. corporations that took actions based on woke, and failed completely, have performed poorly, have received negative exposure, decided to change policy or given consideration thereto, retreated from certain actions, had to reverse course to limit further damage, or were hurt directly or indirectly in some manner, is long and growing.

The aerospace industry jumped on the woke bandwagon. I witnessed the damage it caused. Will Boeing and others like them ever recover?
Next up, HR Departments still imposing WOKE DEI and CRT performance measures on Corporation, Ad agencies, education, etc.
Still lots of folks espousing climate change yet.
“ Will Boeing and others like them ever recover?”
Boeing offshored their compute portfolio. Dell is laying off hundreds of people who were on the contract.
it has infected it with a virus that will be very long lasting. The damage is very deep (hence the resistance) , and long lasting, but at least we now have a President stopping it, and trying to reverse it where he can.
Unfortunately, the smartest corp boards that were unable to prevent DEI stuck the “big black lady” as HR director, thinking that that would be the place they could cause the least harm. Too bad they weren’t smarter. . .
Going woke, as in hiring consultants to evaluate them or to supply programs and posters was in their military contracts. These requirements sent millions of taxpayer dollars to Democratic connected consultants and NOT to pay for whatever the contract was buying. The companies loved this as profit was a percentage of costs, and the companies spent the maximum amount on these woke initiatives. Suddenly, there were openly lesbian women all over the place. I know this because they had bumper stickers saying things like “I’m a lesbian, deal with it.” They were hired BECAUSE they were openly lesbian. They checked a square on the compliance sheet. They were open because they had to be so that square could be easily checked. “Got the required number of lesbians?” Check.
The “big black lady” may be bad but she pales in comparison to the Angry Woke White Girl-Boss.
Probably true - the difference between incompetence and malicious destruction.
Disney is becoming a cautionary tale.
Though I’m beginning to wonder if it’s being done deliberately and is all about a land grab...
The ‘Angry Woke White Girl-Boss’ is the bigger problem—as in many cases, they are the enablers of the ‘big black lady’ that gets hired—and is given power and authority far beyond her capabilities.
