As the Trump appointee pursues investigations into the most corrupt practices in the Department of Justice's recent history, Democrats and other interests are collaborating to sink his confirmation.
With his interim appointment set to expire soon, Ed Martin, the acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, is not backing down amid attempts by top Senate Democrats to prevent his confirmation as the office’s permanent top prosecutor.
Martin continues to clean house at one of the most notoriously corrupt and politicized U.S. Attorney’s offices in the country. Since taking the reins of the office shortly after Inauguration Day, Martin has demoted and reassigned line prosecutors who handled January 6 cases and forced a top prosecutor to resign after she refused to follow orders related to investigating a $20 billion Biden-era climate grift.
He recently sent a letter to a former member of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team seeking a sit-down to discuss the DOJ’s dirty prosecution of a Trump 2016 campaign aide. Aaron Zelinsky, who resigned from the DOJ on January 10 and later whined on social media that he was “furious, heartbroken, and disappointed at what the President and his appointees are doing to DOJ,” handled the cases against George Papadopoulos and Roger Stone; Martin wants to address misrepresentations made by Zelinsky in the prosecution of Papadopoulos, one of the fall guys in the Russian collusion hoax.
His no-holds-barred approach is one reason why Martin’s nomination faces heavy headwinds in the U.S. Senate, which must confirm each U.S. attorney. California Senator Adam Schiff appears particularly afraid of Martin; Schiff placed a hold on Martin’s nomination by claiming “no one embodies Donald Trump’s personal weaponization of the Justice Department more than Ed Martin.” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who recently was investigated by Martin over the New York senator’s 2020 threats against two Supreme Court justices, just announced his intention to use the “blue slip” privilege to block two U.S. attorney nominees from New York and is expected to help lead the charge against Martin as well.....SNIP

Thank you very much and God bless you.
I can see why the democRATs oppose him. He doesn’t play their games.
Not only does he not play their games, he’s going after them tooth and nail for all their corrupt prosecutions.
WWADD? What Would A Democrat Do? Why reappointment to the Special Prosecutor office in DC. Reset the time clock. If that is not allowed, then appointment to Special Prosecutor in NY, I hear they have an opening. Just keep appointing him how ever it can be done.
Maybe Ed Martin should be US Attorney General.
If not, Trump should just temp appoint a new Conservative bull dog lawyer.
Do to Judge Helen Dugan of WI what they did to J6ers, since one of the charges against her is obstructing a proceeding. Throw the Enron statute at her and then use it to add penalty enhancements and terrorism charges. Throw her in prison for 20 years.
And then let’s hear the democrats like Schiff try to complain about Ed Martin getting rid of the DOJ folks who did that to J6ers.
About a week before Ed Martin’s confirmation vote, announce that this is what the DOJ plans to do based on the precedent of Matt Graves insisting that the sentences against J6ers stand even when his use of the Enron law was vacated by SCOTUS. Equal protection under the law. If Matt Graves could do that to the J6ers without consequences, then so can the current DOJ do it without consequences. Either this crap is cleaned up or it is still in effect. Choose your poison, idiot, lawless democrats.
Trump named him anyway. How long does that last? A year? Can he just re-up him again at the end of that term? F-k the Senate if they stonewall.
Perhpas. But Ed Martin reports to the current AG, so whatever Ed Martin is doing is at the pleasure of our current AG.
Can’t renew his post but maybe Bondi can hire him at a slightly lower rank? I don’t know for sure.
There is something wrong with Executive Branch needing the approval of Legislative Branch for appointees.
I wonder if “advice and consent” meant something different to the Founders.
For one thing, the Constitution makes no mention at all of political parties, so it stands to reason that the Founders did not anticipate a senate so polarized, and an opposition party so committed to thwarting everything the President does.
That’s how you know he is the perfect person for the job!
Great idea, Ms Florida has not done a bang up job yet…..
Need a man in that position ... a REAL man ...
