A second-year student at Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University in Chennai died on Friday due to excessive blood loss. According to the police, the girl was admitted to a private hospital for terminating her pregnancy. After which, she experienced significant bleeding. The police learned that the girl was taken to the hospital by her married professor, who was allegedly in a relationship with the minor student.
Upon investigation, the police found out that the accused professor was also responsible for the minor girl's pregnancy. The Thalambur Police identified the professor as Rajesh Kumar. He was arrested under POCSO Act and remanded to judicial custody.
While the police were searching for the doctor who performed the surgery on the girl, the deceased succumbed to her injury and died at Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital.
After her death, the police have added murder charges to the existing ones against Rajesh Kumar, said the police.
A similar incident took place in February this year when a college professor in Villupuram was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for sexually harassing a first-year student.
Around the same time, an arts teacher at a central government-run school in Coimbatore was arrested following allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards girl students. Just ten days earlier, a government school teacher in Salem had also been arrested over similar allegations of sexually harassing girl students.
Nice to know there are still places that try to protect children...
In the US, minor children obtaining abortions are supposed to be reported for exactly this reason because its used to cover up rape, pedophilia etc. God help us.
Supposed to be
Just trying to figure out if this is a second year college student or something else. No age listed for the poor girl so this is very confusing.
And yet, another reminder of how abortion facilitates the worst abused and excesses of patriarchy.
“Chennai, formerly known as Madras, is the capital and largest city of Tamil Nadu, the southernmost state of India. It is located on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. “
Just in case anyone else couldn’t point out “Chennai” on a map.
Oh, lord, India is a major rape and woman-abuse area. It's amazing that they have some protection laws. Maybe the cities are better than the outlying areas.
