It’s been a long time since I used Flight Simulator. Does it still start you off at Miegs Field?

Meigs Field is gone. You can get it as free add on.

I am so sorry. I had to run out the door because my wife volunteers at the Museum of Flight near Seattle pretty much every Sunday. So, I am now sitting in the parking lot using the internet connection from my phone.

No, I believe that the last version that started at Meigs Feild was MSFS 2004. For me that changed in MS FSX. For me that version started off at Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands. But I think that this might have varied for people living in other parts of the country.

There is a different start up procedure in MSFS 2020 & 2024...

To start a free flight session in MSFS 2020 or 2024, follow these steps:

Launch the simulator and navigate to the main menu.
Select the World Map option.

Choose your desired aircraft and livery. (color etc.)

Click on the map to select your desired departure airport, or search for it using the search bar.

Click on the airport icon and select Set as Departure (you can set your desired runway or parking location as well).

If you prefer, you can also set a destination airport in the same manner. However, this step is optional, and you can still fly without a specific destination.

Once you've set your departure (and optional destination), simply click on the Fly button at the bottom of the screen.

There are a bunch of YouTube videos that show you how to do this.
