Just received tickets for an Antiques Roadshow this summer and was wondering if any FReepers have ever attended one.
Any advice? Good, bad or indifferent.
Thanks.
Don’t take anything labeled “incriminating evidence that will send Hillary Clinton to prison”
We need you around
Who sent them and why?
Not if you want your visit to be televised. The producers are extremely aware that the network who carries their show is left biased.
Please wear something decent. Every episode has some yahoo who makes me cringe over their lack of decorum or sense.
Otherwise Antiques Roadshow is an oasis in the television wasteland, educating us on the value of literal pieces of art and history whose caretakers were otherwise ignorant about.
Plan on standing in lines. Bring water. If you bring different types of items you’ll have to wait in one line at a time to get things looked at. Only bring items you truly think important to know about.
I got tickets went once years ago. Invited an older person to go with me to use second ticket. I decided to let that person bring family generational pieces instead of getting an item i wanted looked at. When we got to appraiser and i saw the items, i realized i spent a lot of time in line for nothing but the person to be told items were mass produced for that time, worthless.
Overall the atmosphere was fun. Fun to see what someothers brought and see some people being videoed for possible show segment.
Funny story.
Thanks for the heads up. I do have something that qualifies for 2 genres.
I remember that show. The things I have learned over the years from watching are pretty interesting. And they love patina!! So dont clean anything. HA!
My father-in-law had to educate the expert about a rifle brought back from the war.
He didn’t make the cut when it came to being televised.
Seen Biden and Hillary go by in a limo guess it’s a antiques Roadshow?.
No one knows everything (after being a teenager). What rifle in what war, if you recall?
I've been surprised how knowledgeable the "Pawn Stars" staff are on their show. If they don't know something they have a cadre' of experts on call.
