They need new cars because they don’t use the other cars enough. Is that the way it works?

Future crooner Dean Martin would get his start at the Craig Beach dance hall performing with these orchestras. Craig Beach was incorporated as a village in 1931. The amusement park would close by 1966, although Craig Beach would rebound as a small resort town within Lake Milton State Park.

Chicago, Minneapolis, New York etc police should all resign.

That’s what I took away.
Not only that, but, because they don’t need them much and can’t afford new batteries, they want to buy high-mileage used cars.

Sounds like they could have just walked their beats. I think we aren’t getting “The Rest of the Story”.

Weird headline, “Entire Ohio Police Force Resigns...”
Truth is a foreign concept to the media I guess.
Sounds like a nice place if it weren’t for the cold...

Mayor James Becker said he doesn't expect the walkouts to effect village public safety. Really?

“I think we aren’t getting “The Rest of the Story”.”
That’s my take, too. Dead batteries, old cars, wanting to buy high-mileage used cruisers.
Grok gave URLs for two nearby newspapers and I couldn’t find anything else in them, either.

That was the intent. Drive out the police and bring in cheaper private security.

So 5 people. Who collectively don’t even do half the village’s police work. Not that exciting.

Population 1,063. Shouldn’t even have a PD for such a small area, Sheriff’s department can provide coverages. Municipalities are already paying for county services, anyways.

I was the Treasurer for a small town in Illinois; population was about 1,100, all residential, and the town basically incorporated in the early 1950's in order to maintain two beaches on a small lake inside town limits.
One full-time officer, who could have been the prototype for Barnet Fife, a part-time Chief, and about 5 part-time officers. The FT's most significant duty was to drive behind school buses to make sure nobody drove badly while the school bus was operating. The rest of the force covered weekends and evenings.
Pretty much exactly what the town residents wanted. Very few tickets were written, so the PD was not considered a profit center for the municipal government.
