Question!! At what exact point in its transformation, does an avocado evolve into guacamole?

When you split it, remove the seed, squish it’s insides into a bowl and add some lime and minced red onion...............

I recall once reading that Ponce de Leon was briefly shipwrecked on an island near Puerto Rico and survived on alligator pears.

Not really, average avocado has around 12g of carbs with 10g of fiber, which means net carb content is 2g, tiny amount

A whole avocado does have about 240 calories, so I only eat a half of one spread with some nonfat, unsweetened Greek yogurt spread on toast, every morning, lol

I avoid Avocados & Limes from Mexico. The drug cartels are now in the Avocado & Lime business. So basically, neither for me these days. :( Mexico produces 80%+ of both fruits for the whole WORLD!

Cartels impose ‘war tax’ on avocado farming

“’Honestly, it’s something delicate, but like anywhere else, you have to pay to be able to work,’ the owner of a packing company located in Uruapan, who didn’t want to be identified for fear of retaliation, told The Courier Journal.

The owner said some growers and packing companies pay 1,000 Mexican pesos (around 50 U.S. dollars) per hectare monthly to criminal groups.

The massive worldwide demand for avocados has turned the business into a very profitable one in Mexico, but it also turned the ‘green gold’ into a target for multiple layers of organized crime seeking to control the trade.”

Amazing that Mexico is so openly lawless. In America we do a better job hiding payoffs.

If you are stranded on a desert island and foraging for food, it doesn’t get much better than this for one single plant source, imagine fat and calories to go along with whatever else you can find.

Calories: 322

Niacin (B3): 22% of the DV
Pantothenic acid (B5): 56% of the DV

though strangers at first do not relish them

I still remember how gross I thought avocados were when I first found those slimy green chunks in a salad, as a child in the 60s. Eventually I learned to like them, though I still consider them a luxury food item rather than a staple.

The big rage in Australia is a thick piece of rustic toast with a 1/2-inch layer of roughly smashed avocado spread across the top garnished with goat cheese. I bought some at a fast-food pop-up on Bondi Beach. That was a pleasant afternoon.

In Guatemala City, there is a small public park that was donated by the California Avocado Growers Association, to thank the people of Guatemala for teaching American growers how to grow avocados.

Many mornings I make pumpernickel toast, add smashed seasoned avocado and top with a soft poached egg. Seasoning includes dried peppers
