I had heard its cheaper for Retired people to live on cruise ships. No related to the story but I thought about when I saw the headline.

I had heard its cheaper for Retired people to live on cruise ships. yes, but don't have a "health emergency" on board a cruise ship - I have heard their medical rates are outrageous.

We went on our first and last cruise two summers ago. I could not imagine being cooped up on a cruise ship forever. Ugh.
It would be like being forced to live at Disneyland the rest of your life.

“...I am not allowed to gamble on the ship,”...
That’s not weird, just common sense..............

TLDR:
She’s not alloewd to gamble onboard. (It is offered)
No pets.
Her cabin, shared with her husband, is very small and bare bones. It doesn’t say, but is sounding maybe 250sq/ft.
It is free, but everything has a price.

The wives of ship’s officers are accommodated. The spouses of assistant waiters etc. are not.

I had heard its cheaper for Retired people to live on cruise ships. Cruise ships are vacation spots. They are NOT assisted living facilities. Cruise lines do not like it when people try to grow old and die on their ships. They do not have the facilities nor the expertise to care for someone in that stage of life.

I would consider spending maybe my first year or so of retirement on cruise ships. Get all the traveling out of my system and then settle down.
It's common sense that she should not allowed to gamble on ship. Imagine the issues that would arise if the wife of that crew member gambled away his paychecks.
