Thune quietly met with BRIAN KEMP (Georgia) on Senate Race

Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) met with Gov. Brian Kemp last Monday as the GOP lobbies the Georgia Republican to run for Senate in 2026.

Why it matters: Georgia is a top pickup opportunity for Senate Republicans, and the popular Kemp is seen as the party's strongest potential candidate.

Thune was joined at Monday's lunch in Atlanta by NRSC Chair Tim Scott (R-S.C.), according to two people familiar with the meeting.

Kemp's wife, Marty, also attended.

The intrigue: Kemp has a complicated relationship with President Trump, who attacked the governor for not overturning his 2020 election defeat in Georgia.

Republicans, and America! Need a solid pro-Trump, pro-MAGA Senator in Georgia!

That’s the problem. Kemp has a lot of supporters, unfortunately. They were willing to overlook his antics with Raffensperger on that consent agreement that was signed with the DNC.

The real question is “will he support Trump if elected?” I certainly can vouch that Ossoff hasn’t been seen or heard of during his tenure. Same goes for Warnock.

>>Kemp is seen as the party’s strongest potential candidate.

Kemp is seen as the RINO’s strongest potential candidate.

What if charges for the election fraud are brought by then?
He won’t win from a cell.

Trump and Kemp despise each other, but agree on most issues.

WFB William F. Buckley rule; run and elect the most conservative candidates THAT CAN ACTUALLY WIN THEIR ELECTIONS, and work to.improve from there. The system gaming of almost all incumbents being re elected as long as they breathe makes rinos very frustrating tho.

My barber supports Kemp because “He talks the way I talk.”

Southern states voting Democrat is nothing new. However, most Southerners have changed and realigned in a country that has changed. In every state, we are talking about an urban/rural split with election integrity in the big cities being an issue.

It’s amazing to me that Georgia has two left-wing Senators. We need honest elections.

Kemp is so corrupt its mind boggling. I wouldn’t vote for him for any reason.

I’m sure there are better alternatives to tainted Kemp.

Then good luck with Ossoff, and you’re not allowed to complain about him.

Kemp was closing in on The Steal when they took out his future son-in-law, he also had two active Senate races to deal with, and even if Trump flipped Georgia, he still would have lost - so I give Kemp some latitude here.

That lesser of two evils argument no longer works for me. We’ll struggle with Osoff until the Georgia GOP fields a decent candidate of which there are many.

IMO Brian Kemp is a vile and traitorous human being. Why would I want him in the senate? He was complicit in the 2020 election steal. He reportedly took money from the CCP to install Dominion voting machines in GA. He sold a senate seat to Kelly Loeffler for $500,000. Doug Collins should have gotten that seat and we would have a reliable conservative right now.

“That lesser of two evils argument no longer works for me.”

Agreed.

The RINO supporters have been playing that card forever. It’s the fear card. They don’t offer any other solutions.
