The last time hard times made strong men, we also had men who were well-educated. Today we have few of either.
And we are not in hard times yet, anyway.
Right now, from a historical viewpoint, it looks like the war will be (in the distant future) between Islam and China. Either will put up with the other, when one prevails, since it doesn’t matter much what your slaves think as long as they function as slaves, to your satisfaction.
But we are a long way from the Dark Age, unless something goes nuclear.

Wow, you have no idea what's going on. The war will be Islam vs. West well before Islam vs. China. There are no Islamic settlements in Beijing, Shanghai, or Guangzhou (Canton). There are enormous Islamic settlements in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Stockholm, Oslo, Vienna, etc...
