D.C. is close to a deal worth more than $3 billion to bring the Washington Commanders back to the District and build a new stadium at the RFK Stadium site.
The deal isn’t final as negotiations are ongoing, so the number could change, but multiple sources familiar with the deal told News4 that Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Commanders have the framework for a deal in place that would see the team paying the vast majority of the costs to build a new stadium and much of the money provided by the city going for infrastructure that will support the entire 180-acre development.

Revoke Home Rule. Dissolve all DC Courts and reconstitute them with no more power than any other traffic court which is necessary for the next step. Tell the Commanders to build their own damn stadium. Why should taxpayers pay one red cent for this? Put the doge on this scent and let them rip it to shreds. The end.
Thank you....We’re told repeatedly on FR to READ the articles. Didn’t help reading this one to learn the purpose.
What’s wrong with the old one? My sons and I attended a Giants-Redskins game there a few years ago and it was perfectly adequate!
Oh - wait...that was the other stadium. Never mind!
You got that right mate.
Just watched the Mad Men episode about Commanders cigarettes. Never heard of them before.
3 billion dollars for a stadium that will host 8-9 games each year and come at expense of taxpayers? Yeah, great idea.
The City of Washington doesn’t stand to gain from any such deal.
Even if the “Commanders” simply paid DC $10 million/year and rebuilt RFK on their own money they should be told to take a hike.
The players might pay $5 million in income tax, mainly to Virginia because that’s where the Redskins used to practice (and might still do) and where most of the players lived.
There’s traffic, parking, criminally rowdy fans, diversion of police resources, etc.
The Prince George’s Commanders or Fairfax Commanders just doesn’t have a bite. It’s going to be Washington Whatever. Why pay when free promotion is inevitable?
