Iran's right to enrich uranium is not negotiable, Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Wednesday, ahead of a second round of talks in Oman this weekend with the United States about Tehran's disputed nuclear programme.
Araqchi was responding to a comment made on Tuesday by the U.S. top negotiator Steve Witkoff, who said Tehran must "stop and eliminate its nuclear enrichment" to reach a deal with Washington.
"We have heard contradictory statements from Witkoff, but real positions will be made clear at the negotiating table," Araqchi said.
"We are ready to build trust regarding possible concerns over Iran's enrichment (of uranium), but the principle of enrichment is not negotiable.

A simpler diplomatic approach:
Pakistan has them. And George W. Bush could have easily - EASILY - taken them away right after 9/11.
Enough already
Bomb the crap out of iran
“Pakistan has them.”
And that’s a nightmare - led directly to North Korea building their bomb with Pakistan’s help.
Reality is they could allow inspectors to come in and discover they did stop at 5% and it would not be enough.
The US wants to dictate Iran’s foreign policy. Nuclear weapons are the big scary flag to wave so that the reality doesn’t need to be laid out — “We want to dictate Iran’s foreign policy. Period. It doesn’t matter if they are not pursuing nuclear weapons. We will claim they are in order to further our dictates.”
As they have every right to enrich to 90%, we have every right to destroy every trace of their nuclear program.
Iran has categorically refused international monitoring, and violated even the joke of the Obama era Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPA) before the ink was dry. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and others have determined that the number of centrifuges in use far exceeds those needed for LEU production to meet Iran's non-weapons needs. By all accounts, Iran has been been enriching U-235 to weapons grade levels for some time and is estimated to be on the brink of developing nuclear weapons. Iran has no “right” to High Enriched Uranium (HEU), nor to develop nuclear weapons.
Anyone who believes Iran will agree to meaningful outside inspection, and keep to LEU is delusional.
By all accounts, of years past, Iran was on the threshold of just a few weeks and having a nuclear bomb.
It’s been a few weeks for many years now.
And if they have all these claimed surplus centrifuges, then they already have nuclear weapons (and have not used them) given past predictions of timeline, or they do not have them after all this time and that suggests that either they are not pursuing weapons grade, or that our intelligence about the matter is worthless.
NSA, CIA, FBI, and Five Eyes have been so preoccupied with tracking down every Trad Catholic, and critical parent at a School Board that they have no idea what muzz slime terrorists and terror states are up to.
My source was outdated.
Want to see such aircraft in the skies terrifying our enemies.
Iran thinks it has “right” to their bomb making uranium.
They also have a right to sing the blues. Soon.
