Blue Origin rocket with all-female crew, including Katy Perry, set for Monday launch

Six women, including pop star Katy Perry, are scheduled to be launched into space for about 11 minutes on Monday on a Blue Origin rocket, a lift-off that would mark the first all-female spaceflight since 1963, according to the company.

The window for the latest New Shepard rocket launch is expected to open on Monday morning at about 8:30 a.m. CDT, according to Blue Origin.

long with Perry, the crew includes Blue Origin owner Jeff Bezos' journalist fiance, Lauren Sanchez, who is also a helicopter pilot.

Journalist Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, bioastronautics research scientist and civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn round out the flight crew, according to Blue Origin.

The flight will last only around 11 minutes and reach a height of about 65 miles above Earth. The KΓ‘rmΓ‘n line, considered the boundary between Earth's atmosphere and outer space, is 62 miles, so Perry and her fellow crew members will not actually be launched into orbit.

The most-recent all-female spaceflight was Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova’s solo spaceflight in 1963, Blue Origin said.

From our short historical era all the way back to Adam and Eve, the foreheads were always visible. The fancy hair dos did not exist.

I am just not into the modern day big forehead look. Just not my preference.

I see only one slightly larger than average forehead.

Are you used to and drawn to low-IQ pinheads?

All woman passengers, with famous women? Is this just a publicity stunt?

Corvette Stingrays didn't exit then either. So what's your point?

The “space ship” has landed. This is a monumental space flight and a hugh accomplishment for women around the globe.

Now, here’s why this is such a great accomplishment:
1)
2)
3)

Just give me a minute.

The exposed forehead on women is not attractive to me. That is a preference of mine. I wonder if anyone else thinks so?

What a PR stunt. I hope it doesn’t go wrong for them. I assume it flies on autopilot, does a do-nothing exercise, and returns home without issue.

Reckless imo.

And no, it’s not an insult to women. What is insulting is to believe DEI has no place in this and that they’re all ‘the most qualified’, where no men were discriminated against. The statistics being that this is NOT the most qualified crew and RISK is being allowed into the calculus.

Would the flight still be considered β€œunmanned” if one of the crew was identifying as a female but had the XY chromosomes?

They are not “crew” in the classic sense; they had the privilege to be passengers/cargo for this flight.

There is nothing that they could do during the flight except unbuckle themselves during zero g and then buckle themselves back in for the return to earth.
