The comedian, 63, recently detailed having a friendship with Lyle Menendez, 57, who along with his brother Erik Menendez, 54, was convicted of the 1989 murders of their parents Kitty and Jose Menendez.
“He started calling me on a regular basis from the tablet phone thing they have,” O’Donnell told The New York Times on Saturday. “He would tell me about his life, what he’s been doing in prison and, for the first time in my life, I felt safe enough to trust and be vulnerable and love a straight man.”
The brothers were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 1994. While discussing the crime on “Larry King Live” in 1996, the former talk show host said she believed Lyle and Erik’s claims of childhood abuse and molestation by their father and that killing their parents was an act of self-defense. After her appearance, O’Donnell received a letter from Lyle that “thanked her for her support and stated his belief that she ‘knew’ from a personal place that what he was saying was true.”

Fun in the jail showers or with Rosie?
Tough call.
I don’t think the Irish would want old Lyle hangin’ out in their pubs.
Who wrote this article? They didn’t put “comedian” in quotes.
This is one time I will go against my “no conjugal visits” for inmates. I would be in favor here and consider it as part of his punishment.
And yet people as mentally ill as her are given a platform for their bile based only on “celebrity” status.
How straight is he now that he’s been in prison for 36 years Rosie? Even though he married while in prison, he’s doing life, and isn’t allowed conjugal visits.
He's doing life in prison, and California doesn't allow conjugal visits for inmates doing life. No wonder he wants to be resentenced.
OK, killing your parents is one thing...but Rosie?
He’s not interested in your beautiful face and body, or your sparklingly charming personality. He sees you as a way for him to get out of prison.
wow. what a loon
Could not help but remind me of the line in Splash, when the Tom Hanks character says.. “I met the girl of my dreams........ and she turned out to be a fish”. But at least that was charming. This utterly pervy enchantment of Rosie’s is a good measurement of how out of touch she is with reality....and bringing the “straight man” / gay man trope into it tells us even more about her, and the conceits of human trustworthiness.
Must be some mighty slim pickins there in her beloved Ireland.
And she has no clue how insane she is.
Whet is it about certain women who fall for men in prison?
Maybe they're easy and safe --- they won't sleep with your friends or kick your door in at 2AM looking for love. Dumping him is easy, you just stop visiting. He'll never touch you except through the glass, so you needn't bother to shave your legs...
