This video explores Baltimore’s newest and swankiest waterfront neighborhood. It’s a beautiful Saturday but there's just one thing missing … people. Like literally any people anywhere. On this particular Saturday I walked around for a half hour and could just about count all the people I saw on one hand. So what’s going on here… why are there all of these beautiful new buildings but seemingly no one here to use them? For that we need look at what led up to the Baltimore Peninsula Redevelopment Project as we see it today.

Maybe the new expensive condos come with personal security, an armored car and armored windows to deflect bullets??? Baltimore...a urban dump filled with human debris. Quite a place.
“Kevin Plank is apparently a moron to think that people would come just because he built it.”
Too bad for him because he got plenty of flak and rebellion from his athlete endorsers /advertisers back in 2017 or so when he made some mild pro-Trump statements. Plus my favorite two shorts are Under Armour.

In 2017, Kevin Plank, the CEO of Under Armour, faced significant backlash after making comments perceived as supportive of then-President Donald Trump. In a CNBC interview, Plank described Trump as a “real asset” to the country due to his pro-business approach. This statement sparked criticism from consumers and several high-profile Under Armour endorsers, including NBA star Stephen Curry, actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and ballerina Misty Copeland.
Curry, Under Armour’s most prominent athlete ambassador, publicly rebuked Plank’s remarks, stating he agreed with the description of Trump as an “asset” only if you removed the “et.” Johnson called the comments “divisive and lacking in perspective,” while Copeland emphasized her commitment to diversity and inclusion and expressed her disagreement with Plank privately. Additionally, German soccer club St. Pauli FC also criticized Plank’s remarks.
You described it perfectly.
Even when I worked in the city i never spent any time there. I drove in, did my job and drove home. But from what I’ve seen it’s beyond repair.
Even in a pipe dream, there’s no one I know of who is a Donald Trump type patriot, who if given the opportunity and the power has the wherewithal to fix they deep seated systemic rot in Baltimore. (My main reason or the comparison is that Donald Trump owes no one any favors, knows exactly what he needs to do and flat out doesn’t care what people say or do about him)
Most of the neighborhoods are shot, houses are worthless and ready for demolition, crime is absolutely rampant and all any of the so-called leaders in the city and state can think of is to dump more money down the faster swirling toilet.
The governor makes Gavin Newsome look like a patriot. The mayor is a thug pining for the good old 0’s black power radical days, city council is weak abd feckless.
In my fifteen years here, I think they’ve had 10 or 12 police commissioners. At least one ended up in jail. The only competent one was the guy who was there when I moved in. He was run out of town, probably for being white.
Someone mentioned Shiela Dixon, the Mayor convicted of stealing gift cards from poor kids. She has run a couple times for Mayor since her conviction. It’s sad to say, but she’s by far the most competent candidate they’ve had is years.
Cartels launder billions of dollars through commercial real estate. An "overseas" korporation buys a building with dirty money and afterwards takes clean loans against it. They don't even need tenants.
Corrupt politicians in a city like Baltimore just make it easier.
The biggest problem is it is located in Baltimore, Maryland .
No sane business will locate in a Democrat hellhole. No smart upper middle class people will move their so they can be raped by taxes and a target for corrupt local officials.
It’s DOA.
Sad situation isn’t it.
I remember visiting Baltimore decades ago. The Inner Harbor development was a bright spot, in attempts to revitalize the city.
Just in general,,revitalizing blighted areas is a good thing. But maybe some places are too far gone to be saved.
A stellar Baltimore exception: reform school graduate, George Herman Ruth.
Kevin Plank is a visionary. The location definitely has potential. But he’s going to need a Bukele type mayor to pull it off. Due to the current political environment, that’s not going to happen anytime soon.
Too much fighting on the dance floor.
Some quick research revealed their competitive product advantage was copied by Nike, Adidas, etc. that reduced shifted demand and their ability to charge higher prices. However, with return of the previous CEO and customers fleeing Nike and Adidas for their mega-woke stances, UA’s fortunes may be improving.
Oh, my word — I used to have a poster of that in my office in the 1980s! It was true then, and it’s even more true now! Thanks for the memories!
How much did Tony Soprano and his crew make off of this project so far?
