His move comes after initially ruling out a run for Senate before signaling more openness to it. As a former governor who enjoyed a strong approval rating and comfortable reelection victories, Sununu was seen as among the best candidates that Republicans could put up to try to succeed the retiring Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.).

If we lose the majority in either house it’ll hurt Trump and all of us. We can afford to be picky. Like everyone I would rather have MAGA perfect... if I had the choice.

At least this would be a pickup, but I agree, we still need it.

Scott Brown was a protege of Richard Ross, who held Republican positions that Scott later held. He was our local funeral director and one of the best and most decent people I’ve met. Incredibly impressive man. But he fell in Boston and was severely injured, the effects still being felt, I believe. Think the world of Richard Ross and it was a huge loss for MA Republicans, too.

As much as we dislike Susan collins, she has been a key vote for our side several times. Her 30% has made a difference. When she leaves, we will get a democrat 0% all the time and it will show then.

However, in a red state, there is no excuse for Lisa Murkowski in Alaska nor Kentucky having two spineless Senators Rand Paul and Mitch the turtle. They even have a democrat governor...

Maybe he’s thinking about the presidency in ‘28.

**But he flirted with it before his third term as guv, so I think it really appeals to him.**

Come on. This was his chance. If it’s not now it’s never.

Likely his best chance, but he’ll the call twice every six years for some time, I imagine.

Looks like I remembered it backwards. He was PRECEDED by Scott Brown, not the other way around. He’s a genealogy cousin and very active in providing resources to our library regarding local ancestors.

Funeral directors often excel in looking like they care. Rarely do you find one that actually DOES. He came to our house when we lost mother and asked me to tell him about her as a person before he went to the hospital to bring back her body. I’ve never had an interaction with him that wasn’t filled with kindness, curiosity and humor. The statehouse lost big when he had that fall. Smart as a whip and deep as they come.

Opportunity missed

Sununu would never have won. Let's just rename New Hampshire, North Massachusetts and be done with it. Change the state motto to "Too scared to live free or die".
