Trump has China boxed in. It will only get worse for Chinese manufacturing. The Trump tariff war with China forces most of the rest of the world to begin implementing anti dumping trade policies against China.

Thailand is staring at a crisis caused by the rising number of factory closures in recent years, partly attributed to an influx of cheaper Chinese products.

“The Indian Express had reported Saturday that a high-level meeting had taken place at the Commerce and Industry Ministry to assess the situation with fears of a potential surge in imports in the backdrop of the reciprocal tariffs. "Necessary action will be taken. The Customs department and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) are vigilant, the official said.”

I’d say the odds on Chinese military aggression, somewhere, are going up.

They just upped US Tariffs to 84%. Look for ‘Dollar Tree’ to now be ‘Two Dollar Tree’ in the near future. ;)

That’ll teach us! *SMIRK*

MAGA! :)

You’re right. Franklin Roosevelt cut off some critical items such as oil with Japan after it invaded China. Pearl Harbor came a few years later.

However, I wonder what the plan is for some of our most commonly used pharmaceutical drugs that come from China. I know, some products should have never been allowed to be produced over there.

><><

That’s a critical factor to take into account. Thank you.

We should have started re-manufacturing pharmaceuticals here long ago.

We did just fine in the 1950s and 1960s, not trading with China at all. I’m OK with a return to that.

><

You’re right. But we have a major problem with pharmaceuticals now manufactured in China. We get most of our pharmaceuticals from China.

Agree. The tariffs will not reduce the spying or the theft. Separate problem. But, if China and Vietnam and South Korea want to access the 300,000,000 greedy and self indulgent US consumers they have to pay. Zero tariffs just don’t help us. They only help the producer countries.

That was going to be Trump’s next move before the ‘20 coup. Had not the election been stolen, we’d be manufacturing our own pharmaceuticals here in the U.S. today.

China is a paper dragon!

The miracle of the Chinese economy is due to two things, low (even slave) labor and trillions of dollars from western sources.

Cut off the “loans” to China and cut off their ability to sell in the US and China will face economic ruin.

The American economy can survive without China, the question is can China survive without American consumers?

“Spying or theft”

Don’t tell me you want reciprocal numbers of students. That means we’d have to send 276,929 Chinese spies, er students, home to match the 469 U.S. students in China.

No. Like Dragon in Rocky, “Vee must break them.”

It’s time to rid the world of the ChiCom threat once and for all and we can do it by, as Reagan did with the USSR, forcing their parasitic commie economic system to collapse.

Right now the yuan is being devalued faster than the Confederate dollar.

It would be a totally reasonable strategy to box in China if he hadn’t declared a trade war with every other country in the world at the same time. What if, instead of a 20% Tariff on the EU, Trump demanded EU Tariff China at the same rate as the US? You can’t fight everyone at once.

He didn’t have to do that. Trump is negotiating individual deals with each individual country. Those individual countries have all been getting screwed by China to varying degrees and will start to get increasingly hosed by the Chicoms looking to dump manufacturing that has been dumped in the US into those countries. Each country will have no other option but to follow Trumps lead and protect themselves as we are now doing. Trump is leading a world uprising against predatory Chicom trade practices by doing just what he’s doing.

Trump is doing what he said he would do. For 30 plus years he's been saying it. He said it on the campaign trail. Over and over. People heard. People voted for him. Now they are stunned he's doing what he said he would do. They are saying oh no, politicians lie. It's ok to say it, but we can't believe you did it.

They have such short term memories about his success record. No one knows the end result, and it's a big political gamble to reset the entire world order. Might have been better had he waited until after tax day and begun in May, but it's done. Trump has maximum leverage and he's using it. Political fallout be damned.

Thank Bill Clinton for this mess. He’s the one who wanted China to have MFN status. He knew the $$ would pour in for his pockets.
