Great photos showing Vance came from regular people.
JD Vance’s Mom Celebrates 10 Years of Sobriety at White House Ceremony

50 years here
CONGRATULATIONS !! Here’s to another 50 Years !!
Congrats!
Good for her and best of luck to her. It’s an one-day-at-a-time thing - I’ve got a friend who’s been struggling with addiction for over 10 years now. A lot of people know someone these days who’s dealing with addiction, unfortunately.

At 130 that would be an accomplishment
My first impulse would be to say I’m happy for Vance’s Mom, and her 10 years of sobriety, but a publicized event at the White House is not the right way to celebrate it.
Then, I think, on the other hand, maybe she is inspiring others to deal with their addictions. I have had bad habits along the way, but never a full out addiction, to where I’m willing to lose everything, so long as i get more of that substance. I have known people who have gone through it, some in my own family. That’s an experience I’ve never dealt with as my own personal problem.
I still would never have observed the event in this way, though.
62 years sober...
Salute’
This is the kind of real victories we need. They should have invited a slew of people that overcame fent and such to celebrate their recovery. Opioids are one of the hardest things to recover from.
RE: 62 years sober...
WOW! I wanted to give you a toast but that would be inappropriate. :) Congratulations !!
oh i drink...
but never to excess.
Cheers.
Excellent. Congratulations, FRiend.
Of all the things my dad did in his life, the one that resonates with me the most is his successful effort to achieve sobriety.
That is an astonishing feat in my eyes, and I salute anyone who has done it.
And that includes you, PIF.
16 years and counting!
Every day is a renewed blessing.
“62 years sober”
“oh i drink...but never to excess”
I’m sorry my friend but I think you need to explain that to the ignorant.....that being me. 😏
I read Hillbilly Elegy as well as watching the movie. JD gives credit to his grandparents for overcoming the abuse he suffered as a child. I disagree.
If it were not for the United States Marine Corps, JD Vance would most likely be a hillbilly mired in destruction
Regular people?
Mean, abusive dysfunctional people are not “regular people.”
We all have vices, and to conquer one is a call for celebration!
Congratulations to her, May she inspire s all to live better!
God Bless….
What shall we drink to, then?
