Several years ago, we were driving through St. Louis on vacation. We drove by a woman standing next to her vehicle, asking for help. My grandson asked me, "why didn't you stop to help her, Opa?"

I explained to him it was a common ruse to lure people in for burglary, or worse.

Back in the ‘80s, at Homestead, the newly arrived Haitians would lie in the road, feigning injury. Stop to help...get robbed.
