This Newsweek article helped me a little in trying to understand this very large worldwide issue that I had never paid attention to.
It hit me this week as I was seeking a roofer to repair several roofs I want to have fixed/replaced so my children are not stuck with problems left to me by my parents when they died. I was seeking estimates on raised ridge sheet metal roofing which can last for 75 years, versus membrane or shingle roofing with 20 or 25 years life. Roofer told me he will have to see how all this tarrif business shakes out as he has 3 different suppliers and does not know what countries supplies their metal.

You will have to wait a while because the published tariffs are not the ones that will be in effect in a few weeks.
