Russia says it cannot accept U.S. proposals on Ukraine 'in current form'

Russia cannot accept U.S. proposals to end the war in Ukraine in their current form because they do not address problems Moscow regards as having caused the conflict, a senior Russian diplomat said, suggesting U.S.-Russia talks on the subject had stalled.

The comments by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov suggest Moscow and Washington have so far been unable to bridge differences which President Vladimir Putin raised more than two weeks ago when he said U.S. proposals needed reworking.

"We take the models and solutions proposed by the Americans very seriously, but we can't accept it all in its current form," Ryabkov was quoted by state media as telling the Russian magazine "International Affairs" in an interview released on Tuesday.

"As far as we can see, there is no place in them today for our main demand, namely to solve the problems related to the root causes of this conflict. It is completely absent, and that must be overcome."

-snip-

Asked about Trump's latest remarks about wanting Putin to do a deal on Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters earlier on Tuesday that Moscow was "continuing our contacts with the American side".

"The subject is very complex. The substance that we are discussing, related to the Ukrainian settlement, is very complex. This requires a lot of extra effort."

Peace is only possible if Zelensky resigns and all aid is cutoff to Ukraine until a new leader is in place that will agree to end the war.

Trump needs to stop all aid to Ukraine until that happens.

With most US military aid stopped,

I am not sure this is true. Do you have a source? I recall President Trump temporarily stopped some aid for a short time.

Military supplies from U.S. to Ukraine continue. In fact, a USAF C130J Hercules transport is about to land in Rzeszow in a few minutes.

Trump is an infinitely better leader and negotiator, but he's not King of the World and his options are mostly the same as Biden's; keep throwing resources into the black hole or cut losses and move on.

It's much more complex than only what's happening in Ukraine, and much more dangerous. We defeated the USSR in the Cold War by being economically more powerful than them.

Everything that Trump is doing right now to rebuild our economic engine (e.g. investments in AI and chip manufacturing, leveraging our energy production abilities, trying to modernize and bring back steel production, and yes even tariffs) is being done not just to provide Americans with jobs (although incredibly important), it's also being done because it is absolutely essential to our national security.

IMHO we should look back at EVERYTHING done by Obama in his 3 terms (including the Biden 'term') with a focus on how each particular move/action could weaken America in some way. We should do the same with all of his nefarious 'funders' and supporters (e.g. Soros and anyone who provided big financial resources to him, as a starting point) and look for their webs of connections - as well as looking for how they communicate with one another.

When Obama told the Russian ambassador that he would have 'more flexibility' in his second term, it was a clear indication that he had/has an agenda that he couldn't disclose to the American people.

Lots of US supply flights to Ukraine last week, too. Including cluster artillery shells from Turkey.

During the Biden administration, Ukraine received half the weapons from Presidential Drawdown Authority(PDA) and half from Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative(USAI). PDA aid was from Pentagon stocks and was sent asap, USAI was purchased from US defense contractors and took a year or more in delivery. PDA aid has stopped, since there is no new congressional funding.

Trump paused USAI delivery.

Get off the Biden bandwagon, Adolf.

Trump is not doubling down on the failed policy of your favorite President.

So, what does Russia need to have happen in order to be agreeable to stopping their mass murders and other violence?

That the typical US "news" consumer needs to ask this is a testament to the thouroughness of the veil filtering the truth. The RF has been clear and consistent for years about its position vis a vis Nuland's neocolonial 2014 coup and ensuing actions to "weaken" the RF.

It’s called negotiation. And Russia has a good hand of cards to play with.

Russian troops are now past most of the tough fortifications built by Ukraine. Open fields in front of them now. No way Putin stands down at this point.

“EU-Brussels want to continue the war” and “Zelensky doesn’t want peace” but only “Russia is intransigent on the goals they have stated all along.”

That’s an interesting juxtaposition of phrasing. That’s just a whitewashing of the fact that In Russia wants to continue the war. The only peace Putin wants includes the complete capitulation and subjugation of Ukraine.

The problem has always been Zelenskyy. He thought he was a new Napoleon, a better general than a comedian. And, give him credit, in the first months of the war he did manage to do some wonderful things, But, after the Russians dumped their weak generals, re-armed and re-organized. They are better on the battlefield. Zelenskyy was told to focus his attack—he didn’t. He was told to fall back and set up a defensive line, he didn’t. Then he invaded Russia proper—another mistake. Trying terrorism on Russia by sending men to shoot up a concert hall—all that did was make the Russians go crazy (crazier than they are normally). Now, Mr. Zelenskyy is holding power using Russia as a boogie man for Europe. A Boogie man he helped to make. We in America, and the west, are not used to fighting people who are equal to us in technical skill. We like to blow up tents and camels in the desert—not people with airplanes and rockets. Nothing will happen until Zelenskyy is gone and my bet is that his own army will put him out of his misery.

Putin hasn’t taken any Ukrainian town of significance in 2 years since Prigozhin finally took Bakhmut after a yearlong fight.

And then Putin blew up Prigozhin, his best general.

It’s nice for you to admit that Putin is a war monger who doesn’t want a negotiated peace. That’s exactly why President Trump is “pissed” at him.
