The Fall and Fall of the Associated Press
American Thinker ^ | 30 Mar, 2025 | Rajan Laad

“Liberal bias” or “Democrat bias” are deeply inadequate to describe the attitude among members of the mainstream media.

The 'About Us' section on the Associated Press (AP) website declares the following:

"Since 1846, we have been breaking news and covering the world’s biggest stories, always committed to the highest standards of accurate, unbiased journalism. We were founded as an independent news cooperative whose members are U.S. newspapers and broadcasters, steadfast in our mission to inform the world. To this day, AP remains independent, beholden only to the facts.

"From delivering the news via pony express in 1846 to working with artificial intelligence today, we are always innovating to provide fast and factual news and information."

As always, there is a chasm of difference between what is proclaimed and what is done.

The AP recently carried a story titled, “Gabbard Says Trump and Putin Are ‘Very Good Friends’ Focused On Strengthening Ties.” This is a continuation of the Trump-Russia collusion hoax and a spurious claim made by Hillary Clinton that U.S. National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard is a Russian asset.

It gives the mainstream media ammunition to claim that Trump is compromised.

Roughly a day after the article was published, the AP added an editor's note at the base of the article with the following text:

"This story was updated on Mar. 17, 2025, to delete erroneous reporting that U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin “are very good friends.” Gabbard was talking about Trump and Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi."

Which is still a result of a search:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/gabbard-says-trump-and-putin-are-very-good-friends-focused-on-strengthening-ties/ar-AA1B6QGN

But no one should be a friend of Putin.

I became aware of the AP bias via its editorializing about 20 years ago, when it reported the burning of a liberal children’s book (forgot which) by a church, to which it added that Hitler’s party also burned books....

“I became aware of the AP bias via its editorializing about 20 years ago”

I cancelled my local paper over 30 years ago when they printed a story from the AP about a crime in which a “military style assault pistol” was used. I later read that the gun was a Colt 1911.

I confess that I have NOT read the article...BUT I can tell you that...crazy, not serious, Leftist, Anti American Values, WOMEN ARE COMING OUT OF THE WOODWORK AND ...RUINING EVERYTHING THAT AMERICA MEANS...BY HAVING HIGH POSITIONS IN EDUCATION, JOURNALISM, CORPORATIONS...

And causing the deterioration of the excellence in the American Experience.

I admit there are SOME exceptions, but for the most part...

WOMEN HAVE NOT CONTRIBUTED TO THE ADVANCE OF AMERICA/S EXCELLENCE

Just look at the CEOs of PBS, NPR for evidence.

AND, I am not a robot nor a troll.

I am merely a woman who survived when the chances were slim.

______

Correct. Can world leaders really be good friends when their interests compete? Not likely. They can certainly respect each other, & be able to speak frankly. How many world leaders stay chummy after they’re out of office?

Remember when Obama illegally wiretapped the entire AP and they were ok with it? Yeah, that was great.

If WOMEN have been placed in charge of the ASs Press...

No need to look further, they have a way of destroying areas that once were a success.

If no women were involved, I apologize.

Only ignorant or gullible people trust the AP to any significant degree. I’ve been on the planet for over 50 years and they have sucked pretty much that whole time.

The AP still wields a great deal of influence. They feed local news organizations (like the ones in my community) with their "news" on national and international events. So many AP headlines are designed to advance a leftwing agenda, the truth be damned.

I have family members who swallow every word of it. When I tell them what is really happening, it goes in one ear and out the other as if there's nothing in between to stop it.

AP publishes a “style book” that has been a standard reference for mainstream media for decades.

In 2013 their “style book” declared that the phrase “illegal alien” should not be used.

Then the mainstream media stopped using it.

Agitation and Propaganda are enemy actors.
