He didn’t even apply for it either year. They just direct deposited it to him after he filed. 10,000 freaking dollars for one person who makes about $30,000 a year and still lives with his parents.

If he is living at home (as your dependent?) he should not have gotten any of that unless he has some very unusual deductions.

Not doubting you but he might want to look into it because if it is happened in error you have to pay it back. And the IRS is not a merciful creditor.
