So he would be President well into his 90’s?

I don’t think that is a good idea. Can we get through the first 100 days before we appoint him President for Life?

O’Bama did 12 years. Eight of his own and four with Joe Pedo as the puppet in the Oval Office with the dogs that bite.

Silly, not new or news, already thought about for obama and bidet. Trump will be worn out at the end of this term. The wear is already showing on him.

It will be time for new blood at the end of this term. Vance has learned a lot and has a lot to learn.

There is a simpler way. First, Trump become president of Greenland which has a new constitution that allows president life time office. Second, the US surrenders to Greenland and the US becomes a state of Greenland. Trump becomes president of all.

I highly doubt it. The 22nd Amendment does have some wording that can be twisted to give Trump (or Obama) a third term.

But the 12th Amendment says the requirements for VP are the same as those for president. So you are not eligible for the presidency, you are not eligible for the vice presidency.

Some folks argue that the somewhat vague 22nd overrides the explicit 12th. But nowhere in the 22nd does it say that the 12th is hereby modified.

Seems like a good time to close the loop hole with an amendment.

The Democrats would be 100% for anything considered anti-Trump!

I don’t get the sense that Vance would be willing to participate in this, and in any case he would probably be just as good as Trump anyway, let DJT retire in dignity (or even in Greenland).

The Minnesota paper notes: 'At the time the Twelfth Amendment was written there was, of course, no Twenty-Second Amendment; therefore, the Twelfth Amendment could not have originally meant to preclude someone from being Vice President who had been elected President twice.'

Instead, it argues that the the Twelfth Amendment's reference to 'eligibility' means what was already in the Constitution at the time - that no one could serve if they were not a natural born citizen and at least 35 years old.

I'll be waiting for the textualists to argue that it doesn't matter what the authors of the 12th amendment intended, it only matters what the plain text actually says.

That's the argument used to interpret the 14th amendment away from the documented intent of addressing the citizenship of freed slaves. Now the 14A people want the plain text to support birthright citizenship.

If that same logic is brought to the 12th amendment, it would kill this idea of running for Vice President in order to invoke a loophole in the 22nd amendment. It would close the loophole altogether.

It’s not about Trump and clearly he can’t last forever. It’s about MAGA and MAHA and America First and others such as JD Vance can carry the movement forward just as effectively, although differently.
