About 30 years ago, I saw 19 eagles sitting on a slab of ice on the Potomac River in Virginia. Back then, seeing an eagle was a much bigger deal than it is now. I still love seeing them.

One morning just after dawn about 20 years ago I stepped out onto my back step
with my first cup of coffee of the day to look out at the mist shrouded North Umpqua river
in Douglass county Oregon just in time to see a bald eagle swoop down
and grab a salmon out of the river - effortlessly - almost casually.
I’d seen this on TV countless times, but to see it in person for real….

It was a great way to start the day!

I do, too. I consider it an honor to be able to glimpse one up close, and I have been able to do so here in the semi-rural area where I live on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
