This is where education has really failed and marketing has won. Soda, chips, candy are all bad when taken IN EXCESS, which is what many many people do. People will not eat an Apple or banana but they will knock back a big bag of Doritos and a Mountain Dew in a heartbeat, I’m guilty of such excess myself and now I have to work very hard to get some of my health back

lack Education is one of the culprits here, people just don’t understand why junk food sucks and mass marking and of crap and junk food should be curtailed much like the push to end pharmaceutical commercials, bombard people with hours of fit and in shape people scarfing piles of chips and tall cold glasses of Coke, sure people are going to get the wrong idea.

I have no problem with people OCCASIONALLY having a soda and some chips it goes to quality of life, having a little junk food in moderation isn’t the worst thing, people have legitimate stress in their lives so banning junk food would give them one more reason to be pissed and that’s just unnecessary IMHO.

I agree with you about “all things in moderation” but we aren’t talking about EBT cardholders being banned from buying “bad” things—they can still buy whatever they want, they just have to use their own money for some things, not our tax dollars!
