@RepThomasMassie
People should not be allowed to use food stamps (EBT) to purchase sugary drinks like Coke and Pepsi.
Libertarian arguments about choice do not apply here. The money being used for EBT was extracted from taxpayers who have no choice in whether to give up their money.

Broken clock
dr pepper is ok
its medicine
Or candy. Or potato chips.
Agreed.
When i was growing up, it was Food Stamps, not an EBT card. You were heavily restricted in what you could buy with them. No soda, chips, cakes, candy, etc.
Some stores reported Foid Stamp users if the bought food with stamps and a pile of crap with cash at the same time.
In any case, this Nation is broke. If you are capable of working, work or starve. If not, you shouldn’t be getting fatter off my wallet.
No soft drinks. Not even diet.
Big Beverage retaliation incoming!
Mountain Dew sales are set to take off.
Pepsi(PEP) & Coca-Cola(KO) disagree with Massie’s position.
He also says it’s a subsidy for these big corporates
How about 7 Up? I know ways to actually cook with it!
Soda cases are easiest to sell to obtain cash for drugs.
In fact banning this crap from EBT is long overdue. I see people age 40 or less riding around in the Walmart electric handi-carts with three or four six-pack bottles of full-sugar sodas hooked over the lip of the cart (for some reason it’s always the bottles and never IN the card, just straddling the side of it). And chips, cookies, candy, sugar-laced cereals, and all the rest of the crap they need to be eating like Joe Biden needs a Mensa application.
Speaking of the Bidens, could they be confused about Dr. Pepper because of Doctor Jill?
Fun fact: Some EBT folks will buy huge amounts of Pepsi and Coke, then sell it at a discount to neighbors. It’s an easy way to turn EBT credit into cash.
The same thing is done with laundry detergent, by the way.
or ice cream, or steaks, or lobsters or eggs etc
A list of cheap cuts of meat and cheaper vegetables, milk, cereals bread etc should be posted on the wall of the grocery stores and a sign at each allowable item...
The participants should only shop at grocery stores ...

I don’t drink so enjoy a soda but you’re right has to be in moderation it’s not healthy
You have to remember that soft drink manufacturers and snack food manufacturers are big donors to both parties. They will not give up without a fight.
