“Is there no help for the widow’s son?”

is both an identifying set of words, from one Freemason to another, and a request for assistance or favor, from one Freemason to another.

An example of this might be to say this sentence in court while under indictment or fighting a charge, such as a traffic ticket or possibly something more serious. If one does not understand what this exclamation means, it could be laughed off as histrionics.

HOWEVER, If the judge is also a Freemason, a “brother Mason,”if you will, he is obliged to assist you. This obligation, to a Freemason, is higher than one’s obligation to one’s country or duty. Even one’s family.
