Brad Pitt has hit a snag in the $20.5 million lawsuit against his Make it Right Project.
Pitt, 61, started the project in the wake of 2005's devastating Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans with an aim to build ecologically sustainable homes to replace the houses that were flooded.
He spent $12 million through his Make It Right Project to build 150 ecologically sustainable homes but now, nearly two decades later, those homeowners have organized a class action lawsuit against him and his non profit.
Many of the homes have developed mold problems and other serious issues.
The homeowners' legal team, Ron Austin Law, scored a huge victory with the court decreeing that Make It Right must hand over vital docs at the discovery stage.
The Sun reported that the Inglorious Basterds star has been trying to block having to face deposition, saying that it clashed with his busy movie schedule.

$80K, not $800K. Still probably too much.
Bet he won’t do that again.
They gave me food that made me fat.
They gave me candy that rotted my teeth.
And so on . . .
Let’s try that on “THey gave me free vaccines that gave me cancer”
Thanks! I saw 15 homes, not 150, for some reason 🤓
Yep. When I give to charity, it’s anonymously, so the ingrates can’t complain to me.
Wife inherited a couple places in LA. The one we kept was up in Moorehouse Parish. North LA but still got to fight the mold.
Easy to do.
$80K won’t buy much of a house either, but it beats being homeless even if the place isn’t perfect.
The mistake is in the messaging. He shouldn’t have told people the houses were “ecologically sustainable.” He should have said they were “biodegradable and self-composting”.
Brad probably doesn’t care. It was probably USAID money
Small world 🌍
I’ve duck hunted in Morehouse Parish.
Yep. Do a little more each day and each day a little more will be expected. This is the same life as the landlord. Watch Court Nerds on Youtube and see the old chestnut of “habitability claims” when the tenant stops paying rent due to “black mold” but yet fights to stay in the unit because she (mostly) is living for FREE.
ie Homes not maintained by the owners.
Actors know everything about everything, so building houses comes naturally to them. They don’t have to waste time actually learning how to build houses.
Wealth redistribution by lawfare.
Not only that, because people especially up here in the Northeast put in those “cold climate” heat pumps that can’t keep up when the temp falls below 10F, they now spray foam the bejebus out of these homes, stopping any ventilation. Then “black mold” ™
The heat pump bills go up in the $800 per month range. After sprayfoaming, the bill goes “down” to $500 a month.
Hotels man , I mean Homes man ,LOL
most homeless today love to be homeless. Drugs and no rules.
Sounds like a Black Mold discount.
True, but in a city the size of New Orleans you could find 150 people who would want a house, especially if somebody else is giving new houses away.
