This isn't a science report, it is a setup for the next superhero movie sequel.

"Yes! We have defeated the evil villain and cast his soul energy into the abyss!"

"You fools! Do you realize what you have done!?"

Eight billion years, for purposes of human calculations, where human lifetimes are measured in mere decades, is an infinity of time. It is essentially endless.

Universe physics, sub-atomic-particle-theoretical physics, watchamacallit physics...
It’s religion with an exclusive priesthood

Did they consider just adding another epicycle?

Obviously, nothing can be done to prevent it, but in how many billions of years will that happen? I ask to see if I can stop worrying.

...There is no evidence for either dark matter ...

Vera Rubin. She is the astronomer who first found evidence for Dark Matter. Her colleagues bitterly fought her before she was proven correct. After years of experiments attempting to detect Dark Matter none have succeeded. My theory is that something slows Neutrinos down until they can orbit things. The Universe produces prodigious quantities of Neutrinos but few things actually get rid of them . That is what dark matter is.

Bingo, but you’re not supposed to say that. Note the “scientists believe “ in the first sentence. No evidence, just faith it exists.Religion, not science.
