I always wonder what makes people think that Putin is evil. Perhaps USAID-controlled opposition candidates jumping out of buildings? I remember that the Clintons did quite well in getting ‘troublemakers’ out of the way, same for Zelensky, and now the Romanian government. Germany and the UK, now, actually have less political freedom than Russia, as they lock up people who complain about immigration. We tend to love El Salvador’s president even though there numerous complaints that some of the many people he’s locked up are not true gang members, but closer to political opponents...

So, perhaps Putin is no Mother Teresa or Thomas Jefferson...that I get, but just maybe USAID ‘helped’ Westerners in their perception of Putin, as they CLEARLY did in Ukraine, once USAID overthrew and then installed a cooperative government. You can kind of see that when people here post things like “If Putin would just ‘go away’, then everything would be fine with Russia”...simply disregarding the 80% approval Putin has, which means nothing would change in post-Putin Russia...except, very possibly, their next leader would be much tougher to deal with.
